if i am getting "more powa" with the onkyo, why would i factor in the lpa-1 into this equation? i mean, i will keep it if it will be beneficial to this set-up, but do i really need it? What a great opportunity you have now, to compare the internal amps of your new 876, and then connect the LPA-1 to the preouts of your 876, and use your own set of ears to decide, fantastic!

Hey Bob, I never said the Marantz was state of art but it seems as if ONKYO sells more for the list of features than having any kind of reputation for AQ. It's all about the AQ for me as stated earlier by me. If having a list of BAGES OF HONNOR and a multitude of buttons is your thing, then it's your thing. I personally don't need all the hype and features that mean nothing in the end. You can create a list of features all day, but how is it all put together? How are the audio and video boards implemented? What kind of shielding is used between internal components? Lets not forget what an ONKYO is really known for; HEAT, lots and lots of heat. If I want to use Audessy, I guess I'll have to use the decoder in my BD player but why bother when I have an SPL meter and measuring tape. And this is not only my own opinion, but also the one from many people with any sense of reality at all, and with an obvious touch with the Audio Truth. All right, Audio Quality it is, agreed. Screw all the bells & wistles, unless they make an auditive improvement on sound quality, again agreed. But now, don't make the mistake of talking about quality of the video processor, right? Also, the heat issue, should not be discussed, as it does not affect sound quality (besides all my Onkyo receivers run warm not hot, as I turned all the features that are useless OFF). Audyssey, it is a personal preference, so let's keep it that way then. Me like, you don't. As for your last sentence from your post, Touche! Only one question (2): You'll take the SR6003 over the SR876? And without trying the other one first?

i will run it through with the lpa factored in and out of the equation hopefully this weekend. if i cannot tell an audible difference, the lpa will simply go and i will not look back. however, it would be nice to not have to purchase an additional amp down the road if get a dedicated pre/pro. will have to wait and see... See, that's what I was saying to you earlier.
