waiting for my umc-1 and need to know if this processor will allow me to use a bd player with hdmi 1.4, or should i just forget about 3D ? im starting fresh with amps and TV and the whole package . I have onyx rocket 5.1, everything else is yet to be bought . any tips would also be helpful. i am thinking about getting an xpa-2 for towers amd xpa-3 for rear and center,,,thanks .

It has been stated that there will be an HDMI 1.4 upgrade later this year, exactly what that entails remains to be seen. Most likely will require sending the unit in for service. Cost is yet to be determined, as well.

As far as Amps go, like everything else audio, it what you like. I have the XPA-2 for my front LR and the XPA-5 for Center and surround. Currently I have 2 open channels on the XPA-5 but I hope to upgrade to 7.1 soon and by having the XPA-5 it allows me do to that. The power and sound from these amps IMHO is fantastic and for the price, I think their unbeatable. My suggestion would be to try them for the 30 day trial and see if you like them. If you don't, you can always return them.
