I've had the UMC-1 for a couple of days and finely just got a chance to run EmoQ. I wanted the current version of FW because it has the origional version of EmoQ and I really wanted to know what it thought of my room and speakers before I tried the new kinder gentler version. I was a little leery but none the less wanted to know what it came up with. My speakers are all the same except the center which has 2-6" drivers instead of 1-8" driver. JBL says to XO these speakers at 80hz knowing that they were designed to drop off sharply after that. I hooked the mic and gave it a go and it got all the speakers in there right location and though I didn't get out a ruler distances look right. The level XO setup was next and I have to say I like how EmoQ works compared to others. It gives a nice long test tone to make sure it gathers good data. I was very pleased to see that for the most part it agrees with JBL and set all the XO's very close to what JBL says to set them at. After I was done I did pop the 4 PT800's up to 80hz but decided to leave the center at the 90hz EmoQ picked. The EQ on all the speakers were about the same and as expected it bumped up the bottom end (because there is none. ) The rest looks fairly flat to me so for now no messing with it. I know even less about subs then I do speakers which means next to nothing. The EQ for these looked good to me. They are XO'ed at 100 so above that is not important if I am thinking correctly. I did drop the gain on the subs and run it again to get the -4 closer to 0 and it hit -1 so I figured that was close enough. All in all I'm quit pleased with the tool Emo has designed and plan on do some critical listening this weekend.

I have to add a big thanks to Dan, Lonnie and the rest of the Emotiva staff. I had to wait a bit but I love this thing and though I'm new at this it is easy to work with and is freaking my wife out making sounds from movies we have not heard before and don't expect. I AM SUPER THRILLED WITH THIS THING!!!

^ But tell us how you really feel! Seriously though, it's great to hear that it's all working out for you.. and most importantly that you're enjoying the unit. That's what it's all about after all. Thanks for sharing.

I'm new at this, and those #'s could be crap but I sure like the functionality and sound of it. Now keep in mind I have none of those pesky high tech devices you people in America have so it's easier for me to be happy.

No I mean cable boxes and DVR's and such. I have a coax that plugs into the back of my TV for basic (week old) cable that is all fuzzy and messed up. We are too far south for a sat dish unless we want something from Korea or China.

Those results look really good. can you describe your listing environment some more? (room size, treatments/furniture, etc) Curious as to the differences in results from other users. Thanks! Also, what firmware is on this unit?

Mike, thanks for sharing your results and those pictures. I hope I get similar when I finally get around to hooking up my UMC-1. Last night was too busy to do it.

Those EMO-Q results look halfway decent. With that said I wouldn't put too much faith in them unless you run Emo_Q another couple of times and get the same results..or at least close.

I ended up running it 4 times as I dialed in my subs and the speakers were almost exactly the same each time on the EQ and the XO's were always the same. Now I have not tested it but I understand the UMC will 0-out the levels on restart until I load the new FW but because they are all about the same (3- 3.5) I'm guessing it would be hard to notice and just affect where I set the volume.

Also, what firmware is on this unit? Second version I assume. The room is an odd shaped great room with 10' ceilings and glass and concrete all around. There are no draperies of any kind and one throw rug. It is also open on both ends to a bedroom and hallway. There is a computer desk, couch, love seat and kitchen island. Here is a pic from the kitchen area right after we moved in and the lower one is the floor plan to give you the general shape. The wall I use is the one buy the bathroom.

That is not what I would call a typical audio room. (very nice however)
Good to hear that EmoQ is working for you as far as x-over settings and levels.
Any more comments on the sound?
