I have been in the HT business both in retail and installation for several years and have dealt with many high end brands over the years and have owned pieces of Krell and Anthem before myself and I can say without a doubt that the UMC holds its own with the very best of them!!
The reason why I am saying this is that there will be many people complaining that there are still issues with the UMC, but you need to consider the price point and that writing computer code IS NOT EASY when so many things are involved and it costs money. You rewrite and fix one thing but that one thing can make other things start acting funny.
My point is Emotiva is taking the steps in giving us the best AV processor for our money along with great customer service. For that I will deal with the small things till they are fixed through future FW updates.

Spoke too soon. Noticed that when you go into parameters and make changes to treble or bass on ANY of the channels it does not do ANYTHING.

There comes a time where the whole price point talk should fly out the window and I think that ship has sailed.

Well, one report so far. And, I had the unit BLAST after coming back from commercial - no damage, but too close for comfort.. So that makes 'people'. OK with you?

Not kidding at all. The gentlemen who had his tweeters blown is one case so far. Me and others on the other hand are happy with the upgrade. Just like everyone else just voicing my opinion.

One other point to make. Most of the people making negative comments DON'T EVEN OWN THE UMC but feel they need to voice their opinion based on what there reading. As far as my statement on price point. I had an Anthem D2 that had similiar issues when it first came out. Also had a Krell S1000 with issues also. Both of these units were well over $5k and both needed to be sent back for FW upgrades that could not be done by the user. The umc1 is $699, sounds just as nice and can be upgrade BY THE USER. So we have to deal with some issues as "paying beta testers" but I have complete faith Emotiva will get these problems resolved. They have a lot to lose if they don't!!
