OK....I was locked and loaded. My pre-order number just hit and I was waiting for feedback on v6.
Am I crazy or am I just hearing from the complainers?
Why would Emotiva claim the FW was ready to go if it was far from true?
Should I just give-up my spot in line and check back 6 or 12 months from now?
I am confident the problems will eventually be fixed.
I would love to upgrade but who needs more headaches? I have even heard of blown tweeters. This would make me super fly TNT.
Maybe I should just buy an ipad and call it a day?
If anyone has thoughts, please advise.

only you can make the decision as to where to spend your money but from the looks of it, i would consider ALL options as it doesn't appear the firmware was quite ready for prime time. good luck!

I don't tink all that are reporting here are complainers. I would wait for a bit more feedback, before locking it in, if I were you.

I asked the same thing earlier today. After reading the news here and other boards I am definitely sticking with what I have now. At any price point, the problems with this unit are not worth it as it stands right now. Too bad, I was emailed today that my pre-order was ready.

In the short term I'd follow the progress. If after a wide variety posters you feel the issues are not resolved to your liking consider a later look or alternatives, good luck.

Very pleased with my update in limited testing. I'm keeping mine now. See what the others have to say.

I really hope Emotiva can pull it together. I am a total fan boy and love my XPA-5.
I have a background in manufacturing out of China and India so I understand that things don't often go smoothly.
I guess I will continue to watch things and see how it pans out. In any case, I am pretty bummed out.

"Why would Emotiva claim the FW was ready to go if it was far from true?"
I don't know but how many times has it already happened. UMC-1 was supposedly 'rock solid' the day it first came out due to the months of delays to obsessively test everything before its release.
Then the first firmware update supposedly fixed '99 percent' of all issues.
Now the second update... well, we see how that's going.
Basically it seems we're always going to get a spun version of the truth from Emo.

I guess you have to look at some history. Did all the LMC-1 issues ever get resolved? I know with my DMC-1 as simple a processor it was AND with firmware update capabilities, they never bothered to fix the screwed up Subwoofer test tone. It just became accepted as "It does not work right, use Avia etc.".
I would DEFINITELY wait to see what comes to light in the next couple of days. It won't take long to flush out whether Emo can get this correct for 99.9% of the owners. Hearing continuing dropout issues, blown tweeters, locked up firmware upgrades... I would wait.
