So after the second try, I got the firmware loaded and working right.
One thing I noticed tonight while watching the Akira BD on my PS 3, when playing the Japanese TrueHD 192khz soundtrack, I would get a weird rythmic clicking when fast forwarding or rewinding. The clicking would go away once the UMC-1 reacquired the audio.
Then even weirder, I played the same BD through my Samsung BD player and got the same weird clicking after I had stopped the disc, (BD player still on but not playing anything). The clicking continued for a few seconds and then stopped.
I'll have to try it again with some other discs to see if it's just Akira. Akira is kind of unique in that it's the only BD I know of that has a 192khz soundtrack.
