Can anyone who has upgraded to new firmware confirm that the bass and trebble adjustments under parameters menu actually works. Im just curious if its an isolated issue or not It doesn't work on my unit either, and my install went perfect. I was thinking about reinstalling to see if it would help.

Is bass/treble supposed to work in all sound modes or just specific ones? Has anyone checked into this? In other words maybe it just works in analog STEREO mode or something similiar.............

I believe it does not work at all for anyone using new firmware.

Why are you applying lip-sync to a CD? I don't follow that. I just happened to throw a CD into the DVD player, that had lipsync delay set from previous movie viewing. Is this the "weird sounds in the right speaker" issue? I would think that you could set two inputs - "<my_player_name> - CD" and "<my_player_name> - DVD" with only the latter having lipsync delay set. I'd think you'd still have an issue when a DVD was in...your post implies not, though...so maybe it's a different issue? Whatever it is, if it doesn't happen on DVDs, then assigning two inputs should work...

I don't play CDs enough to warrant making a new input, however. It only happens with material recorded at 44.1 (or a multiple, thereof) DVDs are 48 kHz. The problem is that it is NOT RIGHT. No matter what workarounds there are, the problem exists and should be fixed, period.

I believe this could be a real issue. I had seen this during early experimentation with my UMC-1. It was before I had my inputs setup properly and once I did, I never saw the problem since. As it happens I need to control triggering of different amps so I had set up 2 inputs but I understand that not everyone would want to do that; nor should it be requirement, as long as reasonable settings are configured.
It would be good to have this entered in the Official UMC Tracker Form so it can be reproduced by Emotiva and resolved.

I even had conversation (both phone and e-mail) with Lonnie regarding the problem after the 1st FW update. See that's where any comments from Emo on the form, like they suggested they were going to do, would be helpful. If we know that they have looked at a problem, can/can't reproduce a problem, etc... it makes the form useful. As it stands now, well, you be the judge.

Received my UMC1 Friday. I'm guessing that I am one of the first to receive it with v6 installed (as opposed to upgrading from v5). Was hoping with fingers tightly crossed, that I would avoid the issues that have been expressed by v5 to v6 upgraders.
Anyway, I set the unit up without an incident. All 5 of my inputs worked fine as of Sat afternoon. Last night turned it on just prior to Chicago Blackhawks playoff game 2. Picture was fine but no audio!! S$#^&^!!!! I scrambled to find a solution...rebooted unit, switched inputs, etc. to no avail. However, I did get sound via the CD player which I have set up direct thru RCA's. Quickly switched the leads to my cable box, changed the audio for "Cable" to those leads rather than HDMI and got sound, albiet not very good. After first intermission, checked to see if audio thru HDMI was working and viola, it was.
So, very quick first review on UMC...I love the sound...huge upgrade over using 14 yo Yam Dolby Prologic receiver with XPA5. But, the audio dropout issue if not corrected will be a major no-go. Have not even messed with Emo Q or modes yet.

No matter what workarounds there are, the problem exists and should be fixed, period. Chillax, man...I'm intimately familiar with 44.1 vs 48 kHz, and common usage, etc. I'm also not implying that it's right, or that it shouldn't be fixed, or doesn't exist, or any of the above. What I *am* implying, though, is that (1) many people may have an affected unit and be oblivious to it due to their setup, and (2) fortunately, no one *has* to live with it on a daily basis while waiting for it to be fixed. Having a workaround is good...it's no substitute for proper operation, but it's good. Personally, I may or may not use two inputs for DVD/CD myself, it depends...I rarely play physical discs, and the built-in (bitperfect) digital out on my HTPC auto-switches the frequency for me...but it also has an ASUS card, and sometimes I'll use the digital out from that, often I'll use the 7.1 out from that. So I may or may not want separate inputs anyway, not out of any compulsion to hide anything, but because they are different sources with different characteristics for which I will want at least different processing and speaker setup. Man, what is up with this forum? Or did I piss you off in a previous life?

Man, what is up with this forum? Or did I piss you off in a previous life? Hey, my response has nothing to do directly with you. I just wanted to point out that the same issue exists, and that there are workarounds, but that does not mean that fixing the problem should be shelved. Who knows what other problems may crop up due to the root cause. Since you asked about whether it happened with DVDs, I reported my findings re: 44.1 v. 48. The last comment was not directed toward you at all, just a manifestation of my frustration relating to the issue being, seemingly, completely ignored. I am sorry if you took anything I wrote as a direct attack, it was not meant in that way. I didn't mean to imply that you thought it was right, or that hiding it was a solution, or anything else. I just wish we had some feedback with the progress on identifying and fixing some of the problems. That way we can help with rectifying the situation. p.s. please check post #29 for more info. You may see where the frustration comes from.
