Same question here... should I upgrade new UMC to FW6 or stay on 5?

i would say try it on 5 first and if its bugs are show stoppers for you then upgrade to 6. I was fairly happy with 5 despite its bugs and i'm starting to regret going to 6 a bit now.

I could be wrong, but since these updates are just a FW flash, can you not just do a factory default and reload the previous version? The rewrite of the front panel code in v6 might prevent this, but it's worth a call to the factory if you are really unhappy with the latest software version.

I called customer service and was told the older firmware could be reloaded after loading V6, IF you still have a copy. Emotiva does not have a copy available on its website. Maybe Emonatics could get a copy of the last version and make it available on its site?

I was going to say that. I didn't want to leave the cat out of the bag in case they caught word and didn't realize it was still up there....I had already gotten a backup copy though... Is there a trick to display the current version I have? |

For version 6, I still have the audio dropouts as I did with version 5. No better no worse. DVD and CD audio have same wonderful SQ. With version 5, I was unimpressed with HD audio (Dolby or DTS). I couldn't hear a measure of difference that made me go wow! HD audio enhancements with version 6 are significant. I haven't tried running my XBox 360 through with this new version yet.
