Heres another one for you...... Decided to revert back to V5. Went with no hitches (I thought). Audio dropouts are way better than V6 and bass and treble controls work again. Heres the stumper---V5 and PLIIx did not work very well together. On V6 the rears are just as loud as the fronts. Just now when I re-did my setup on older V5, PLII is the same as it was on V6? ? I guess what Im saying is that even though I reverted back to V5 my PLII sounds like it did with V6---Wouldnt this be a hardware issue and not software. Seems like something inside the UMC is not working right. Why if V6 "corrected" PLII and I reverted back why is there still a V6 "ghost" in my UMC with the PLII? !!! Any thoughts? ??

3 files in v6 and 2 files in v5. Maybe the code is in the extra file in v6.
Again, parallel threads.

No, not parallel threads. If I reverted back to V5 it should have completely over wrote the chip inside the UMC1 not add and take away what it wanted to. Anything that was related to V6 should have dissapeared when I reverted back. Unless the computer code they use is some special out of this world thing!!

Parallel threads meaning this topic is posted in 2 places.
If I remember right, there were only 2 files for the v5 upgrade, and 3 in the v6 upgrade. What's in the extra file? could it be something to do with the PLIIx code? Now, don't get me wrong, I don't have any idea, but it seems possible that reloading the v5 only overwrites 2 of the three files in v6. Leaving one to mess up your UMC-1.

Does seem strange if thats the case. Normally one would overwrite the other I would think.

I mentioned this elsewhere but have you guys made sure that the PLIIx is on movie and not music? Until I switched to movie the rears were too loud. Just a thought as Music is the default setting.

Yes. Checked all that. So far V5 working fine but still the popping issues, minor audio dropouts (not nearly as bad as V6) and trigger problem is back only on non-hdmi sources. Just saw a post regarding the problem might be with the Cirrus chip. Let's hope not. I'm really beginning to think it's a hardware issue but I hope it's not. Calling EMO tomm first thing!!

V6 includes a DSP update which means most the DSP codes are not reverted by loading the two files from V5. That is what I took from the many threads about the update.

...ok then - looks like Emo will have to release a "new" DSP update soon.

Would DTS-MA Hi-Res be part of the dsp update?? If so when I was on V6 my Devils Rejects BR (DTS-MA Hi-Res) played fine now I'm back on V5 and it does not. What I'm getting back at is a hardware issue maybe with the chip. If PLII is tied in with the DSP and I reverted back to V5 with the PLII sounding the same as V6 you would assume the hi-res would work as it did with V6.?? Unless the DSP update addressed only certain things. I give up I will post tomm after I call Emotiva.

There are likely many interfaces between the 3 firmware versions so if they are not running matched versions you could get strange issues. So anything is possible after a revert to v5

As what was discussed a while back, Parasound has effective immediately cancelled their C3 line-up. Wasn't the HDP-70 a "clone" of the UMC-1? Anyways, here's the article: www.parasound.com/new.phpI think they don't see any way of selling every license (as they need to be bought in large quantities) as is. Looks like the "big" companies have trouble adjusting to the new HDMI era.

I wonder who their new manufacturing partner is? It's good to see a company put their customer's satisfaction in front of sales.
I understand that Emotiva does not have this luxury, they need their products out there to market the OEM side of the business and we reap the rewards of the economies of scale. The current situation with the UMC-1 must be even more of a nightmare for Emotiva than it is for us.

More troubleshooting---If anyone is having luck with the recent upgrade, when did you get your unit?? For the ones having issues--When did you receive yours??
I wonder if it has anything to do with production runs--not uncommon at all in electronics
