If it is hardware, then why did V5 essentially work fine regarding dropouts and PLII etc. but now V6 is messed up?
I have spoken with Vincent at Emotiva twice this morning and I'm not convinced everyone is entirely forthcoming. They may still be getting up to speed on these problems?
I am keeping a log now.
With my Fios Motorola tuned to Bravo HD and connected via HDMI for audio and video I am getting loss of sound or no front sound everytime during commercial breaks where the codec changes between DD 3/2+LFE and DD 2/0 PLII. This happens consistently and repeatably. Cycling through Modes eventually restores sound. I think this is defined bug of many in V6.
I loaded the V6 firmware twice once yesterday, and today this morning. This was at the suggestion of Vincent. Each time the process completed according the PDF directions. I used two different computers for each firmware load. The second was a Dell Laptop with Win 7 64 and networking and bluetooth turned off (at the suggestion of Vincent). On the Win 64 system, I loaded the most recent SiLabs USB drivers as well. The update went about the same as my first attempt. The first try did not complete and started over and completed to 100%. I do not know how to verify the code was correct given the tools we are given. IMHO, the DSP update is far too fragile given the large variety of computer hardware and software out there.
I'm going to monitor the rest of the day and record each dropout that occurs.
