I love my new UMC-1.
It is the best processor I have ever owned.
It may not be perfect, (I have not found any problems yet) but it still gets the BEST VALUE award in my experience.
I went from and old (Cira 1995) Meridian system which sounded damn good. I purchased it in 2000 for $5000 who wanted to get rid of it. New it was worth ~$35,000. It was a PITA to setup and operate. I sold all of this equipment 3 years ago for $4,000 and have gone through some used Sunfire and Rotel gear. Both were OK. I had a Infocus 7210, it threw a decent picture.
I have replaced it with all new Emotiva Equipment and added a JVC-950 projector.
Theater equipment cost is approximately $13,000.
The experience is unequaled by ANY other theater I have been in including a $100,000 setup.
The UMC-1 is the leading edge and we may experience some bleeding edge as a result. But I couldn't be more pleased and I know EMO will continue to improve my room.
THANKS!!!!!

That's great to hear. Which firmware version do you have?
I would like to know whether anyone has a FULLY OPERATIONAL UMC-1. Wading through threads isn't fun. I cannot be sure whether most people have errors in the firmware update process or whether the bugs aren't fixed.
Are there any others out there?

Glad to hear it. I'm in the same boat. I ordered mine without the most trecent FW update. Unless I discover a need to update, I'll likely wait for awhile.

Rather than start a new thread I thought I would ask here. How heavy is the UMC-1 in the box. Curious know how much shipping will be to Australia compared to the UPA-2 I just ordered.
Cheers, Dave.

I have replaced it with all new Emotiva Equipment and added a JVC-950 projector. I would like to read about your set-up since I am saving up for a killer HT myself. I will build speakers that do justice to the upcoming XPR-7 I want badly... Can you list your equipment? Can you comment on the JVC? We have a JVC 65" RPTV we like a lot. For the HT, I am looking into the BenQ W6000 because it provides enough lumen's for a 120" screen. How big is your screen?

We consolidated a shipment of 6 pieces to Singapore with some cables and all in was 140LBS and cost US$250 for the shipping. We got the latest V6 installed before shipment...still in transit but fingers crossed arrives before next weekend.

For the HT, I am looking into the BenQ W6000 because it provides enough lumen's for a 120" screen. How big is your screen? Screen has a viewing area 9.5 feet wide. I don't remember the diagonal. I built it my self as a stop gap 10 years ago and have been so satisfied I have not bought one. It is cloth over 1 X 4 hardwood that was primed and painted with multiple coats of wall paint with the lowest nap roller I could find. I then wrapped the outside 4 inches in Black Velvet. Here is my equipment: Processor - UMC-1 R&L Amps - XPA-1 C and Surround Amp - XPA-3 Front Spekers - Emo ERT 8.3 Towers Center Channel - Emo ERM 6.3 Subwoofers - 2 AV123 MWF-15 Blue Ray Player - POC Phillips that does the job Cable Box - POC Comcast Motarola box Gaming - PS3 Cables - All Blue Jean Remote - Harmony One for now, Looking to go RF. Room is 30X14 with full light control and a black ceiling and Gray walls. Tiered seating. The JVC is flat out amazing. When we hung it and plugged it in for the fist time my 21 year old son and I were amazed at how sharp the picture was. Then we focused it and saw just how out of focus it was. I have trouble telling the difference in the black levels from other CRT's I have played with. Projector loudness is a non issue. It has a motorized lens cover that when first turned it on I thought well sh** this thing is loud as crap then the lens cap motor cut off. I though for a minute the projector was broken. It is that good. Two of my best friends are in the AV business so I get to test and play around with lots of toys from time to time. Both were just astounded with the video from the JVC. They have been waiting on the EMO UMC-1 to see if they should push that to their customers. I expect them to come by this weekend. One bit of advice, overbuy on amps and size your speakers to your room. I am very very happy with the Emo speakers. I perfer them over the 6.3's by the way. For my ear the mids are better and the high lows are much better. Consider - For my ear, a great sounding system is one where I get full range to my ear at lower volume rather than reference level listening. I get that in spades with the current system. Except the Meridian, The others just never got there and I am not having to deal with the Meridian quirks which lead to the sale of that equipment years ago. I can't delineate how much I like the Emo stuff.

Excuse me for not posting before this. Friday turned into hell day with me not getting out of work until 7. then I had BAD stomach cramps. At 12:30 Friday night we got a call that my 21 year old son was in the hospital. He is ok, but it has been a hectic few days which will continue.. He lives 100 miles away and we will go back again today. Tomorrow tI must go to a trade show the wife was to attend with me, those plans are in flux. I am tired so if I miss state something below I ask for your apology up front. Llast night I when we got home I did play a little bit. I am having some issues with the Harmony One. Not sure what but some issues note the less too tired to even look. This is the first processor I have had with True HD Dolby and I think it was the Player did not want to feed it the True HD signal. I had one sound issue. When I put in Star Trek I had a low rumble when the first Paramount HD scene came up. It went away when the move started. Aside from that I played with 4 DVD titles and watched The Matrix in Blue Ray. I have listed the problems I had here are the positives, The picture is nothing short of amazing. Zero degradation in the video as a result of running it through the UMC. My mind wants me to believe it is actually improving the picture Which would be highly improbable and due to my state of mind. THe audio was out and out phenomenal with dynamic range improved clarity, wider sound stage, and extended low frequency response. My wife does not care for loud sounds and can never sleep in the theater. She is a pianist and does not like recorded music except at low volumes. While we were not listening @ reference levels, she liked the sound and fell asleep with the volume moderately loud. I have not played with anything more than what I stated here. So issues with features like Dolby Volume I can't comment about. I did let the unit set it's own configuration and in my case that seemed to work well.
My unit was delivered Thursday had although I have not checked Jana told me before it shipped it had current firmware.
You may not hear from me for a few days. But if anyone has questions, post them. I will get to them as I can.
Zero real issues here. I could not be happier. A unbelievable value for the price.
