Will the UMC-1 have 1.4 "a" ??

or just 1.4?

From all the new posts on AVSfouum it seems to me that the "a" designation is critical to tell the TVs to switch back and forth, in and out of 3d. If I am watching ESPN sports 3D scheduled to start this summer, this feature seems critical to me.

(PS Onkyo and Pioneer recently announced they are upgrading all their to be released 1.4 units to "a")

Don't think we will see the UMC with 1.4 ,with or without an "a", this summer...

Have a hard time seeing the 1.4 upgrade anytime soon. Emotiva got better things to turn their attention too.

Looks like things are "getting away" from Emotiva regrading "features" for this product line. A product offering which seemed so advanced two years ago is rapidly becoming outdated.

The "a" feature is imperative for me if I plan to switch Direct TV channels.

I have also read that another manufacturer is offering a software upgrade to PoLogic IIz. I was hoping they would announce their intent to add this via software as the 3d programming will most likely use this to introduce "depth" to the soundstage.

We'd need another set of pre-outs for that or lose the BS speakers.

Unless a new board for the 1.4x upgrade re-purposed a couple of the inputs, which would be fine by me - but I think that would be on the audio board so it would almost be a complete upgrade at that point other than the power and chassis. Still, if the price was right ...

I might still buy the UMC-1 along w a "cheapy" Pioneer to get the 1.4a and PL IIz.

I'd really rather go quality than quantity, but there are beginning to be many features for the new home theater missing.

Perhaps there is another way for me to get these features and still go Emotiva?

(BTW.. about two months ago Emotiva told me that my UMC-1 would be shipping April 6th and I should expect a "call" to finalize arrangements. Never got a phone call or eMail or anything.)

Some are shipping out in the last few days, so your best bet is to call them Monday and ask about it before they are out of stock again.
