Was this an advertised sale or was good old fashioned haggling involved? They sometimes have either demo, or returned, items on sale. Mine was a returned item, not a scratch anywhere, and all the accessories included. I actually saw the guy returning it and stalked the sales associate - he had bought it the week before. With a little haggling It came home with me for under (significantly under) 1K  You just have to be diligent and find those deals. A few months prior to that I picked up a 21TX for like 399, the week it came out. Deals can be found. Now I ended up returning the 21 because it just wasn't in the same class as the SC-05 I had at the time. Good deal.  I'm in a similar situation. I love my LPA-1 and really don't see myself selling it. I have a LMC and HD audio sounds good over 7.1 but I'm limited by the speaker setup of my bluray player. (I actually prefer re-encoded hi rez DTS via coax and using proper speaker settings on the UMC.) So as I much as I would like to try a UMC, the current situation with it has me waiting to see how the XMC will be. The Pio here is about the same amount so it will come to what lessons learned Emotiva will apply to the XMC. If they can't pull off what I fell the XMC should be, I will have to look at other options. |

And as for your SC-27 for well below $999, ...it is simply AMAZING! ...This is a true high end receiver. Absolute grandiose score, Congrats! |
