Ntrain - Saw your thread over on AVS callin out Ethan on the abuse of his sub and lack of knowledge. LOL. That was comedy. In all seriousness, it was a rather unfortunate set of circumstances, and I thought your feedback was mature. At first I was worried, because I don't have alot of experience with electrical/manually EQing subs etc. But I think I would have to try pretty hard to hit the SPLs that that boy did. Don't even remember what they were. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 120dbs wasn't it? At any rate. Sub arrives day after tomorrow. Can't wait. LOL! Yeah, that was rediculous. Im sorry but Ethan's FIRST POST literally "called himself out", LOL! That video? The paper to measure the maxed out Xmax? Are you kidding me? Driving that sub to near 120db levels measured at 14 feet away in a 4000sq foot room? That was just absurd. He wonders why the tinsel leads were ripped. No, no user abuse on his part..............

It will be interesting to see if the OP responds to you. There isn't much he can say really. When I ordered by sub I talked with one of the ED guys and he said it was pretty damn near the first time in his career, but he has absolutely no interest in working with that guy again. the youtube videos of the SPL meter going out of control were f**** awesome. LOL. I actually watched them several times for entertainment. In his defense, the whole removing the driver thing was a little ridiculous. ED shouldn't talk about how easy it is when you ahve issues with finish drying and sealing the driver in place.

His video's are funny though, I was shaking my head watching them. The video with the paper measuring the subwoofer was downloaded and saved for future fun and banter. ;D I bet Rich(Radtech) would be proud. ;D At least now I know what his demo'd 6.2's went through, LOL! Rich, if your reading this, I'm just *bleep*in with ya my friend. ;D We both know those 6.2's would have needed a set of XPA-1's to reach the same xmax and launch a driver(and grill) across the room. ;D

WOW!!!! Spent most of the afternoon getting up to speed on that thread. I had second thoughts about posting but you summed it up pretty good in your 2 or 3 posts. One thing that did come to mind is his total lack of comprehension regarding QC and CS. I would venture to say that most, companies will not ship out product that does not muster up to QC. With that said, any items that are defective prior to or during shipping,or during a trial period, are usually swapped out immediately on the Company's money. Any item that is being returned for refund, is on the consumer. After any such trial period, it is also on the consumer. Case in point, when I got my XPA-2, it kept going into protect mode. Lonnie told me to feel free to open the case and look for things, or I could get an RMA and swap it out, which I decided to do. Same thing with my ERC-1, it would not release the CD. After finessing it out of the slot, it was boxed and swapped 3 days later on an RMA. On 2 occasions, my XPA-5 had to go back for repairs. The repairs were free, but I had to pay for shipping. If I am not mistaken, this is considered SOP. The poster at AVS, seems to think that the Company owes him because he spent $1000. I concur that he was probably treated more fairly than he deserved, and he definitely abused the equipment, but there was no more need for me to stir the pot there. Thanks again Ntrain for the link.

I didn't say you stirred the pot. You are correct, it is blatantly obvious from his absurd OP that he has no concept as to what he is or isn't doing properly. I just got off the phone with Alex because I'm waiting for grill pegs, and we discussed the whole thing....he also said thanks!!! ;D I was just stating, that there was no need for me to post there because my post would just be stirring the pot. You called BS on this guy, and he had no legitimate comeback. Therefore there was nothing I needed to add.

I just skimmed this thread. WTF This guy is a dip S#!T. He shows on video maxing out his sub and then complains that it is faulty and that he has to shell out money to fix it. What did he expect? Thats like redlining a car and then wondering why the engine blew up. No car manufacturer in their right mind is going to pay for that.

Thats like redlining a car and then wondering why the engine blew up. No car manufacturer in their right mind is going to pay for that. You know, I have to add this: People wonder why I harp on lots of "pro reviews"(As its a known fact, its a PAID form of ADVERTISEMENT), and many of the "user" reviews as well, is because a good majority of these reviews come from people like this Ethan character. The eD,SVS,Epik threads are FULL of people like this who only care about max output with "X" amount of distortion that they can't see or even "hear" since they are so focused on their $10 radio shack SLP meter and how much the analog gauge twitches. I was perusing the "review" threads today and honestly it was a joke...........

Whats up with your 81's btw? Get em yet? Tomorrow by friend, I'm all excited. Then I can beat up on them a little too. My RPA 2 is off to Emotiva for a new light on the R meter. Wasn't there a discussion going on about this earlier. So, I'll have to demo them with my UPA 7. Hopefully, I will get a quick turn around on the RPA 2.

On the light meters being kinda useless and just something else to break? Yep.........that was me. The McIntosh amps we used to sell had issues with their meters all the time, still do. I mean aesthetically they are nice to look at, but they just don't add anything in the reliability dept.

Hahah. I was searching old threads to try and get info on the A7s I'm getting tomorrow and came across this post from our same friend. (ethan) LMAO. www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1237227&highlight=a7s+450 Best comment from another member - "Sorry, but if you are playing a sub at 110-115 dB in an attached townhouse situation, you are being a jerk IMO."
