Hey guys, I was experimenting tonight, and turned off my center channel to run it in phantom center mode. It sounds much better most of the time, because my mains are much better than my center. But I put on a movie (Iron Man) and quickly noticed that the DMR was applying a serious amount of Dynamic range compression (if that's what its called). The explosions had no force to them, and it was just like a night mode was instantly turned on. I have heard that a lot of receivers do this with Dolby Digital when using the phantom center, but I didn't expect the DMR to do it. Of course, this is just with regular DD, and not TrueHD, if that matters. I don't have the Oppo yet, just the PS3, so I'm not able to get the HD codecs. Has anybody else experienced this?

Hey Paul, you don't seem to have much luck with this one; I guess not many people are using a Phantom center channel.

No, nobody does anymore. Oh well, I just switched my center channel back on for now. It won't be too much longer until I have a matching center.

I tried it for a while and it was OK, but it didn't beat having a matching center.
