Agreed. It would keep us all happy to see progress and keep them out of the firing line of people "stewing" with problems.

a release candidate would be nice I'd much rather see 'weeklys'.....very beta (or alpha) product with the fruits of the week's labors. Now and then they can lump the stable stuff into a release version which, hopefully, would NOT be the end of development. Given the state of HDMI and HDCP, I'm really hoping Emo will keep working on the UMC for some time to come. R

Humm !! mine says PLIIx after beta upgrade just checked. If you have a 5.1 setup, then it will only show PLII, but if you have a 7.1, then you get PLIIx. Hope this helps. Does this mean that if you have a 5.1 setup, you are actually getting PLII instead of PLIIx? Because they are two different things, one for turning a 2.0 signal into a 5.1 signal, and the other turning a 5.1 signal into a 6.1 or 7.1.

PLII will turn 2.0 into 5.1, but should not touch 5.1 signal by default. IIx will turn all sources (except for 7.1 which is rare anyway) into 7.1.

I just had a volume "explosion" while watching 24 on Fox and it went to commercial and DD 2/0 from DD 3/2+LFE. Didn't blow any speakers but quite jarring! This has thankfully been pretty rare with the beta update of V6 but it has occurred a handful of times. Hope Lonnie can eliminate this particular nasty bug ASAP! -CB Lonnie could you give us a scoop?? Did you fix that in beta2...I had this explosion volume when I switch mode but intermittent. Happend three times only.....

PLIIx is just an extention of PLII. x meaning you have back channels. so if you only have a 5.1 system, then you can't get PLIIx. Hope this helps

I loaded the V6 Beta for the 3rd tiime last night because of audio drops while watching cable TV. The audio drops seem to be gone but not the UMC will not turn off. When I sent the power off discrete code it says power off on the front panel and starts to shut off. The power amp connected by trigger goes off. The UMC goes into a dormant mode but the blue lights stay on. Do I need to load the Beta for a 4th time?

I find this cures a lot of power on/off issues.

Do you have your cable box hooked via HDMI, and is it connected to HDMI1?
Can't remember which thread mentioned it, but HDMI 1 behaves differently than the other inputs.
I did move my BluRay player to HDMI 2 and Cable box (SA8300) to HDMI 1, and noticed quite an improvement, including then end of freeze ups.

Zone 2 is turned on. ;D Press the power button for Zone 2 on the remote to shut it off and the UMC will completely power down.

Lonnie,
I have not loaded V6 yet. I assume I can load it and use the B2 software due later today instead of the UMC-1_v6_02_04_20100413.upg file, correct? Or are the betas add-ons and corrections that require the initial code as well?
Thanks!
