I originally was e-mailed with a 4/15 ship date. Then, I received an e-mail stating that my UMC-1 would be delayed about 2 weeks. What is the new anticipated ship date? Are we still on schedule with the short shipment delay so that I can get my UMC-1 by the first of May (or, so). Just curious how far along the pre-order list has progressed. I sold my HT receiver back in January and I miss having 5.1 surround sound.

Why don't you just call Emotiva and ask them?

The delay might be them verifying your unit's firmware is current. It should be worth the wait.

I got the same shipping date so I am now expecting mine in the first week of May. Hope I am correct on this as I too have sold my old receiver.

I agree with the advice to just call. My ship date was supposed to be in mid-March. I just got back from travel (got stranded in the U.K. a few extra days last week ). I decided to take the chance and call to see when I could expect to be able to order. The response that I got was that I could either wait for the new firmware to be loaded, or take delivery of stock they already had on hand and load the firmware myself. It made me very happy that I could make the decision to take that risk! I can't want for mine to get here. I sold my receiver a long time ago, and it will be so nice to get my tunes back!!

Smart move on going ahead as the latest beta has gone a long way in fixing things.

I took the same "risk" myself and had 'em ship it with V5 a couple weeks ago. It arrived the day V6 was released and I flashed the firmware before even listening...That said, and after applying the beta patch today, I have no regrets. Sure - there are still lots of things that can be cleaned up via future firmware releases, but overall I'm QUITE happy! Quite a step up from my near-vintage HK Sig 2 which has been in my system for about 7 years...

For a reference time scale:
I was originally scheduled for an April 1 ship.
Was delayed for software, and got an email requesting payment on April 13.
I paid by check, which went out the 15th,. My unit shipped on the 21st and arrived on the 23rd.

With that time scale in mind, I should get my notification email on the 27th of this month. This is something I am really looking forward to. We are using an old Sony receiver now and it sounds very bland compared to my old Yamaha. The Sony does not have pre-outs either so I can't even connect to my amps.

Thanks eltwo for the time-scale reference. That was exactly the information I was seeking and was what I was hoping. I will be taking a new job across-country in a few weeks and I would like to get the UMC-1 shipped to me while I still have a stable address for receipt.

I am glad that you posted this, I was wondering the same thing as my original shipping date was also the 15th and was hoping that they were on schedule. I will wait for them to do the firmware update. My old Acurus died just before Christmas so we haven't been renting movies nor listening to music and since I just completed some soundtrack work I'd like to hear it through my HT.

Beyond preorders, when will those who aren't on the pre-order list be able to purchase a UMC? The home page for this product says "Now in stock", but there is no "Buy" button. If they are in stock, can I buy one? If not, when will they be available for open sale and concurrent delivery?

Currently fulfilling preorders". Considering that there are still known issues with the firmware, I would assume that Emotiva is not anxious to ship out as many units as possible, but rather maintain what's out there, fix the issues, then continue shipping en masse.

i had an original est. ship date of 4 April, then received the same 2 week delay email. Last week, I replied to one of those emails, and immediately received an email asking for payment if I wanted v.6, to which I said yes, and it will be in my living room on wednesday.

Bill: Of course, I read it, and that's the point: What is the best guess as to when we'll be able to buy and/or when will there be a "reserve one now" button, based on the current state of the software.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there really is no way to know. I don't even think Emotiva could tell you at this point. It seems as though they are going to continue (slowly) shipping units to preorder customers, but there is no way to even guess at this point when the firmware will be to a state where they are comfortable enough to move forward with mass production and mass shipment again. I think something Emotiva said some time ago is the best thing to keep in mind - they want to be selling you the UMC-1 more than you want to be buying it. I think we'll know more when the next beta firmware comes out and see what else it resolves.

I'm glad my info helped.
First thing I did was update my firmware, and I have just started hooking up sources.
A BIG Thank You to Bill Bauman and the EMONATICS site for making the update a breeze!

I have been advised that Emo are waiting for their next shipment before mine can be shipped.

Did they give you any estimate of when that will be?
