I know this has been covered somewhere else tried to search but no luck I would like to know how to set the UMC-1 to upscale regular DVD's I have it set to BYPASS for BD but want to use the better scaler in the UMC for regular DVD should I set the player on 480i and the UMC to the resolution I want or how ?

I believe this is a global setting so you will have to select your prefer output resolution on the UMC-1 each time you go from watching a BD to a DVD.

Yeah its global, but with the v6 firmware, Emotiva changed the video button to cycle between Auto and pass through, so now it's a lot easier to change.
If you're using your BD player as your DVD player also, you will have to check the settings in the player to see if you can have it output BD's at full resolution, and DVDs at 480i/p, if not you'll have to change it each time.
