MultiCh7.1 shows as Stereo??

I hadn't tried out my MultiChannel 7.1 yet on my UMC-1 which has the latest beta FW installed.

I put on ELP's "Brain Salad Surgery" DVD-A disk on my Denon 2200 dvd player that has all my Analog m/c outs hooked up.

Audibly, it sounded great - all the channels were working - great definition and clarity. Surround effects had my ears bouncing from side to side.

When I pressed the Status button on my UMC-1 remote, the display said "Stereo".

WTH?

Finish the story. How did the music sound when you reset The UMC-1 to multi-channel audio?

Stereo applies post processing and bass mgt.

Direct bypasses the afore mentioned.

I too have BSS on DVD-A. It is an aural delight!

(Perhaps my favorite, second only to "Fragile"-YES)

As my note said - I was getting all 7 channels with accurate surround effects. BSS uses a lot of surround effects. Since I was getting all the channels playing, I am surprised and confused why the Status display is showing Stereo. I definitely was getting more than just the L + R mains playing.
