Hi all,
Try posted this in the Beta Firmware thread but it got buried so attempting a new thread. I've noticed that 1080P sources from my PS3 are not being passed through the UMC-1 when video output is set to AUTO. It is passing as 1080i/60. When the UMC-1 is set to Pass Through it correctly plays as 1080P. Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas? This was the case with the beta firmware 1 and 2 versions.
Thanks,

Auto will do different things.
The only way to get 1080/24p is to use passthrough.
It was suggested to use 1080/60p as the default to make sure everything is output at 1080p.
Personally I was doing it for a while and after loading the new firmware set it back to passthough. Everything to me looks better without the UMC touching it.

Thanks, Thats not a scaling issue, in auto mode, the UMC will talk to you monitor and source and find out what is each one prefers. It iwll then set the output resolution to that. So if it is sending out 1080i in auto, then that is what you monitor is saying it is designed for. Keep in mind, just becuase a monitor says it can take 1080p, doesn't mean that is what it is internally designed for. The EDID info within the monitor will tell the UMC what it is truly designed for. But in pass through it will just pass through which is why you see the 1080p.

Not true, if the monitor is deisigned for 1080/24 and the source is designed for 1080/24 as their native format, then it will send 1080/24 through. But if either is not, then it won't.

No, in pass through, if 1080p comes in, that is what goes out.

Thanks to all for the quick response. My monitor is a JVC DLA-RS15 projector for info. It is set to accept 1080P24 signals so not sure why it is sending a signal to the UMC-1 that it prefers 1080i? Before the UMC-1, I had a Denon 3808 AVR that was set to AUTO and it was passing the 1080P signal so I assume in theory the UMC-1 should do the same. I will research my JVC a bit more per your suggestion Lonnie that maybe its playing a part.
