hi all, I have an appletv connected to UMC-1 video HDMI, audio Analog. when I change inputs say from dvd to appletv UMC-1 gets stuck not responsive I will have to recycle power on UNC-1(turn off switch in the back) to make it responsive.
also if I turn off tv (while listening to music) and after some time if I turn on tv then display doesnot show up even though audio is working I have to recycle power again to get it to work .
I have updated UMC-1 to latest FW updates actually I did it again today following all steps that was in the video. but no luck.
has any one else had this issue? is there a fix for this?

AppleTV has had a number of HDMI issues, especially if set to output 1080 resolution, regardless of what it has been hooked up to. Did you try to update the AppleTV firmware and to set the output to 720p?

I am curious why you have the AppleTV connected to the UMC-1 with HDMI plus analog audio? Won't the HDMI provide the audio even if the display is turned off? I'm going to be setting up my UMC-1 next week and the AppleTV is an important part of my system (photography & music.)

NapaBill - I know you directed the question to Vinods9, but I'll chime in. I have the AppleTV hooked up to the receiver via HDMI only, and it keeps on playing audio even if I switch off the TV. The analog RCA out of the AppleTV I used to have connected to a small, separate headphone amp (in anticipation of the UMC-1 not having a headphone jack).

I also have an interest in being able to have the Apple TV play music, while switching display to watch Dish programming. I believe I read somewhere that with the UMC-1 you can't select video from one HDMI input, and audio from another.

But I believe if HDMI is plugged into Apple TV it disables analog outputs. Not sure about this, but think I read it somewhere.

I stand corrected. Just read (RTFM) the AppleTV User Guide and it shows a HDMI for video and optical for audio set-up.

Stevens - I have updated AppleTV FW. I was not able to change resolution for some reason it was stuck at 1080i, I will try again this evening.
NapaBill- reason why I have analog out is appleTV outputs 48KHz insted of 44KHz when using optical. Yes analog output works even with HDMI
I have used optical out and AppleTV gets stuck, I have not tried HDMI for audio and video and test if that gets stuck. I will try that this evening.

I was not able to change resolution, for some reason it was stuck at 1080i. Interesting - my ATV is now stuck at 720p. I had the receiver set to output 1080i and it is upscaling ATV signal from 720p to 1080i. I guess the units talk between themselves and decide what output resolution each will send based on some setting somewhere. When I plug the ATV straight into the TV, I can all of a sudden choose whatever output resolution I want. In any case, over at the Apple support fora, loads of people were reporting ATV issues with HDMI handshakes not renewing themselves, resulting in black screens from the ATV after having changed inputs, after the ATV coming back from hibernation, etc. In every case, the problem was solved by the firmware update and by choosing an output resolution other than 1080i.
