I am considering the purchase of the UMC-1 and had a few questions:
1) Does the OSD display the incoming and outgoing video signals? In other words, will it tell you that the incoming signal is 1080i/60 and the outgoing is 1080p/60? Also, does it give me information such as sample rate for audio tracks?
2) Will the unit pass through 1080p/24 source material regardless of the video settings. In other words, if I select 1080p/60 as the output mode in setup - will it still output 1080p/24 source material as 1080p/24? I do not want the unit to convert 1080p/24 to 1080p/60.
3) Does Dolby Volume work as intended? I've read one topic that seems to imply that it is not working properly. This is an important feature for me to enhance late night viewing.
4) Does the video processor display a detailed, clear picture or is it displaying soft images? There is at least one thread stating that the UMC-1 - even in pass through - displays a very soft image.
Thanks

Q1: Don't know, I use pass through.
Q2: It will only send 1080p/24 if you select pass through.
Q3: Not really. I don't use it. It should be fixed some time with a firmware update.
Q4: The PQ is very good, but I have noticed in pass through it is different from what I remember when I had my Oppo connected directly to my TV. Others have said it looks like it is applying sharpening at the sharpness zero setting.
Cheers, Dave.

... or even "fuzzying" (anti-sharpness? <G>)
The DV is working pretty well for me. I'm using it for prety much everything.
How well it works may well depend on your levels/amps and where your volume was set when (if) you ran Emo-Q.
