Artie, yes it does matter that the color matches the mains. Haven't you heard? Sheesh lol BTW, what color is it? no problem with the mismatched hair colour, so to speak-that's why merkins were so popular for so long... -b

It is called an Epicentrix and is made by Australian company Krix. The drivers are a perfect match to the Neuphonix main speakers.

This one is pretty as well. Haven't auditioned it though. It's the Vienna Acoustics Poetry with a price tag of $10K:

wilson polaris - probably around $30K per rumors. I have never heard a Wilson in action, but in general they are the most god-awful looking speakers I have ever seen, Watt Puppys remind of old style flip top garbage cans you see in the mall.

Howdy, I'm not unhappy with our old Legacy Audio SilverScreen III, but I would probably enjoy giving this model an audition someday: There's nothing like having a pair of 12" bass drivers for you center channel. :-D -- David

That Marquis HD center must be huge. My guess is that it's about 15" in height and perhaps 36" in width. If you have a sonically transparent screen, it might be worth considering a large center speaker like that. But in that case I would go with a vertically aligned speaker rather than a horizontal one.

Haha. Agreed. This looks like a fancy version of the sort of thing that you'd expect to find in a typical teenager's hatchback! Since I'm using a 16x9 aspect ratio screen, this would fit just fine under mine, but the tweeters would not be the same distance from the floor as the fronts, which I'll agree is a bit of a compromise. Tipping the center up towards the listening position helps some, but I'm sure that this is not as good sonically as having three vertical fronts like you suggest. -- David

I have heard a ton of B$W, Paradigm, WIlson Audio, Martin Logan......and for the cost....
I'm still VERY happy with my 4 year old Paradigm CC-690 Center.

No matter how good a center channel speaker sounds , if it doesn't fit in your setup, it's not a very good speaker for you. Very few of us have room for three identical speakers across the front of our listening area...much less four of them. That video screen keeps getting in the way.
The best center channel speaker is the one that actually fits in the space you have, looks good doing it and sounds as close to the sound that your mains produce as possible.
For my main system with Thiel 3.6 mains, that choice was the B&W HTM, which is a nice tone match for the Thiels.
I've been using an Infinity IL36c, three way acoustic suspension center channel in my living room system with magnepans for 10 years, but since I put the magnepan 1.7's in there, I have not liked the match between the center and the mains. I just ordered a magnepan center channel for that, that should improve things in that setup.
I don't think a magnepan center would sound right in my Thiel system though.

Here is a photo of my front three. My center has the same drivers as the mains. The center has slightly less volume so is something like 5hz short of what the mains can get down to. My surrounds are wall mounted and have the same tweeter as the from three so match better than I expected. My ears can't tell the difference when they are all crossed over at 80hz. Dave. Edit: PS, my display is 3'2" off the floor. This is something I am going to address with a new cabinet that will hold all my audio gear and lower the display.

That looks to be the ideal center channel for your setup. It fits, looks good doing it and is a timbre match for the mains. Your center speaker is pretty much the same as your mains, with the exception of being horizontally instead of vertically oriented. That's the way it should be done.

What constitutes the Ultimate Center Channel? Sound? Price? Driver array? B&W has a dedicated HT line and here's one of their LRC speakers:
