Figured I would share my experience in here as well on my brand new UMC-1(last Wednesday).
I used my Windows 7 64 bit Asus laptop. Put it in safe mode, made sure nothing was running and started it that way.
First thing I did was update the USBexpress drive.
First run through it got to about 75% on step 3 and the loader crashed. Turned everything off(unplugged the UMC and turned the laptop off) and started over. Got it to finish and complete the first stage(file).
Second file got to 99% and hung. Then the UMC got stuck loading....and then rebooting itself. Powered everything off as above and started again, but with just the second file. Finally got it to load a second time.
Third file no problems.
I then repeated the steps and loaded everything again a second time(per Emonatics) and didn't have a problem with anything.
Everything seems to be working correctly and haven't had any real issues. EmoQ has not been able to get past the ambient test since I received it but Emotiva is sending me a new mic that hopefully fixes that problem. The sound level and clarity difference is night and day difference from my old Onkyo receiver I was using as my pre/pro. Happy so far even if the update process is a pain. Now I just need to take the time to take real advantage of this thing and get everything set up the way I want it.

/shrug Maybe I didn't, but the firmware version that came up when I did the mute/mode/up volume(or what ever it was) wasn't the same as the one listed on their page so I figured I would I would update it. I of course now that I am asked can not find the sheet were I wrote down the old firmware number, but I do remember it at least seemed to be an older one.
If I can remember , I believe it was 7.4.05(or something like that), and I updated to the 7.4.07. maybe it wasn't needed but I figured why not. Plus I wanted to get in at least one update in the first 30 days ;D

Got the new EmoQ mic in the mail yesterday and tried it out. I still had to rub my fingers together above the mic to get it to pass the ambient test but I was finally able to pass it.
I think I am going to just stick with doing it manually as EmoQ is giving me some crazy results. It's telling me my FL/C/FR are only 1.6ft away, and my sub is 30' away(front three should be about 14'. It's also telling me my phase is reversed or something on about half of my speakers so not sure what that is about.

Can anyone point me to 7.04.00.05 to reinstall into my UMC-1. I installed .07 and created a trainwreck with my Dish Vip Ird. Essentially if you pause, flip back, go forward it looses audio and wont resync without changing inputs back and forth etc.

We have had many Lounge member write that they were having issues with DISH's HD receivers while using HDMI. Their problems were solved when switching over to Component Video and Digital Audio. Most cable service providers and satellite services are experiencing very high problem rates with all brands of AVRs and Surround Processors when using HDMI. I was even having many of the drop out problems with one of my systems with a pre-HDMI audio/video receiver. All you can do is have your service provider keep replacing their STB until you find one that works with your gear or switch over to Componet Video/Digital Audio. You are not loosing any video quality as cable and satellite broadcast at maximum signal of 1080i which Component Video easily handles. Good luck.

There may have been a 7.04.05. There were many firmware versions that shipped on various UMC-1's that weren't ever posted to the web. If there really is a need to get these other versions, I can try to ask really nicely if Emotiva will give me the files so I can post them all for general availability (don't hold your breath on that).

I all ready bailed out of HDMI due to issues with the 3am restart etc. So, when running component on .07 if you pause, forward et all it would loose audio 100% of the time. I originally moved from .05 to .07 to see if the "blue screens" during comercials would be eliminated, they were not. Phil

Out of curiosity, why do the files truncate the .00 vs what the display show on the unit? mine shows Firmware W7.04.00.07

I don't think there's ever been a version that used the 2nd-to-last double-zero, so they've been generally omitted in reference to versions.

Learn something new everyday.
In light of the facts I should have said that Emotiva never released a 7.04.00.05 on their website, and that's why none of us have a copy of it on our computers.
