I just bought a used DMR-1. This will serve duty in the bedroom HT powering my Paradigm Cinema 330s (L R C) and Paradigm ADP 170 (RR LR). I'm looking forward to it.

Congratulations. I hope that you like it. I have heard plenty of great things about those receivers.

Best money I've ever spent on audio equipment. I've had mine for 2 1/2 years and it has performed flawlessly. Have fun!

I love mine to death! I've had it for about 2 1/2 years as well, and nothing has ever gone wrong on it, and it just sounds great. I still don't feel the need to upgrade to an HDMI pre/pro with all the bells and whistles yet, as the DMR serves very well as a pre/pro with the Parasound amps. This thing is certainly the best receiver I've ever heard, and when it was reduced to $999, it was the best deal around.

Seems like there isn't much discussion to be found about these from when they were current.
Perhaps something was swept under the virtual rug.

The Hammer They have been gone from the Emo store for quite some time and were expensive to build and priced accordingly, so I don't think that a lot were sold. Doug

The Hammer Thats because everyone who bought them is thrilled with them and there have not been any problems. The DMR-1 was one of Emotiva's greatest buys along with the MPS-1.

It really is a great piece of gear. Remember, the DMR is basically the same thing as the DMC pre/pro, and they are both very similar to the Sunfire Theater Grand stuff from that year. That's part of the reason why they were priced as high as they were. I feel that the DMR was still a good buy at the original $2900. Others didn't feel the same, and it sat in the warehouse with no buyers. Then they dropped it to $999 to push them out the door, to concentrate on what their customers wanted, which is separates. Unfortunately for Emo, it came out when the big brands were coming out with HDMI receivers with DTS HD, True HD and all the other bells and whistles that people wanted. Had it come out a few years earlier, it might have sold. The lucky few that were able to look past it's shortcomings technology wise, were treated to a wonderfully built high end receiver, that is reliable, looks great, easy to use, has a ton of power and is very musical. I've wanted to upgrade to a new age pre/pro, but the DMR makes it very hard to do that. Especially once I got the Oppo 83 hooked up via analog for lossless audio, and external amps.

Well I hooked it up in the living room (on the Studios) and tried it out.
Source is an older media player (Hard drive based that plays most everything. It has component video out with optical out for audio). The picture seems very unstable having to "re-sync" [5 seconds of scrambled picture ] with quite a few, but not all scene changes. Meanwhile the audio seems quite fine.
I did reset the unit to factory settings and have not adjusted a thing from there yet.
I bit disappointed with the component not passing the video signal (never had a problem with my older Yammy), but I'll keep working with it.

Hmmm, I've only used it's component hookups once, two years ago with a cable box and it was fine. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with it, and you can get it working.

Well, video works fine from my Panasonic 5disc carousel DVD player. The problem must be with the media player... no problem when hooked directly to the TV though.

I was thinking of some media sources that push out 1080p over component. I can easily see that as an issue.

Still kinda disappointing as I've never had this issue using this player.
I'm glad it's a minor issue (for me at least).
