I ordered the white outdoor speakers and received the black version on Monday. Emo then sent the white version as a replacement. But I have now decided to keep both.
The speakers look very nice, but they do not stand flat on the bottoms very well. Instead, you can install the mounts and use them as stands (with the speakers horizontal). That works OK.
The "white" is an "off white," which is probably good for outside but maybe not as good for inside. I considered replacing the Polk 45 Atriums in my master bath with the white Emo, but the the Polks are "whiter" (which fits in there) and the Emos looked a little bit "big" in that room (both aesthetically and in terms of bass output).
Now that I have both colors, I think the black version looks a little bit nicer.
I did a short sound test of the black version (not that it matters) earlier this week. Definitely more bass than I have heard from a small outdoor speaker and a distinct sweet spot with a nice sound stage. Other than that it was difficult to evaluate them because I had to keep the volume down so as not to draw the ire of the neighbors. They did sound a little bit "tinny," but that was probably because I set them directly on my patio (with a brick wall behind: concrete and brick). Maybe I should put some acoustic panels out there (just kidding). I'll leave the listening tests to others ...
Build quality is very nice: what you expect from Emo. The speakers (grill, body, and stands) appear to be metal (like the Polks), not plastic (as appears in the online pictures).
As a quick comparison I checked the price of my Polk 45 Atriums, which are much smaller (and not quite as nice). They were the same price as the Emo outdoors. Based on that comparison, I would say these speakers are a good value.
I hope that info helps. Enjoy.
