I have been reading for some time about Emotiva products, and am excited to be listening to the UAC 6.2 in Ceiling speakers right now in my office.
Last year I finished off our basement which will eventually contain the Theater, Bathroom, and Office/Bedroom. I ran Speaker wire to the Office/Bedroom to utilize zone 2 of my current receiver (Marantz 7200), and have been waiting for the the UAC series as I never found in ceiling speakers that satisfied my needs.
I was able to pick up a used SpeakerCraft BB2125 amp from a local dealer for a great price. This two channel amp will run both the office and eventually the patio speakers. I'm also using a SpeakerCraft Volume control in the Office/Bedroom (VCR120).
The UAC 6.2's came quickly and were well packaged. They are very substantial speakers, and you can tell that Emotiva takes pride in their products. I utilized the template to cut holes in the drywall and fished out the speaker wire. Getting these speakers into the ceiling was pretty easy, although I would have liked to have another person for an extra hand.
When I finally made my connections and turned on the speakers I was instantly impressed. I was expecting no bass, or very little, but wow there is real mid range slam with these little speakers. Highs sound great as well! Obviously I didn't purchase these for critical listening, but for ambiance and background music they are top notch. As a matter of fact they may change my mind about installing in wall or in ceiling speakers in my next home theater!
I know this is not the most detailed review, but I'm hardly a professional musician, and I hope for my first post on the board it will help someone else purchase these great speakers.
