IS/ARE fixed
Hi, "I just want to let you all know that we are very close to releasing the final code for the UMC-1. Lonnie is heading to China tomorrow morning and will review and test the last updates from Cirrus and the China team. If all goes well, which we believe it will, we will release the final code shortly thereafter. We will release it as a final "Beta" code, just to make sure, but it will be essentially the production code. Once we confirm that all is well, we will then lock it down as production code."
Thank you for your support. Best to all, Big Dan
This will be the Final "Beta"

What are the odds on getting release notes with this one?

ZERO... (or an actual USER MANUAL that explains setup in decent details, so users don't have to look thru hundreds of forum posts to understand how the UMC-1 is supposed to work).
Maybe some post somewhere that will list some of the stuff that has been fixed...
Lonnie is heading to China on July 9th... so the final "beta" release will not happen (at least) for another 2 weeks. I wouldn't plan on seeing the release before end-July...

To answer the question in the subject heading, everything as it is expected to be the final version after beta testing.

What an odd way to make such a big announcement. Good news though. Edit:
Without using the "quote" feature, I was confused. I thought brianhd's post had been hijacked by big Dan.The Hammer

There will still be bugs in the code no matter how final it is.
The question becomes will there be enough for people to return their UMC-1s?
RIght now there are a lot of people still waiting for the 30 day return window to begin. I think Emotiva needs to get that window closed sooner than later for their own financials.
I appreciate the time they've provided but I believe it was needed since the shipped product was not production quality. I'll wait for the next release but I'm still on the fence because of problems I've had.

If they get 100 units returned I would be very surprised. Hell, if they get 40 returned for this reason I'd be surprised. It is not going to hurt their "financials."

You know, even though it's incomplete and pretty poorly written, I find the draft user manual capable of directing me to the answer for the few questions I've had about operating the preamp. YMMV.

But an update to coincide with firmware releases showing what was changed is really not too much to ask.

I also hope a manual revision will follow the next formal software release, although I understand why it hasn't been done for the beta releases.

I will be keeping my UMC-1 for sure. I only use mine with an Oppo and as long as this works I'm happy. I have B3 now which has introduced some issues with my Oppo so hopefully the next FW addresses this. I can always go back to B2 which worked perfectly with my Oppo but I would like an improved EmoQ to set my EQ correctly.
Other things I would like to see is a trigger setting for my zone 2 amp and maybe a bass / treble control for zone 2. I need more treble in my new Emo outdoor speakers.
Dave.

I need more treble in my new Emo outdoor speakers. Dave. How are these mounted and what is the tweeter positioning in relationship to the seating position? Maybe mounting the speaker "upside down" with the tweeter at the bottom might help better than boosting the treble at the preamp. (Not to take away with a cool feature of tone controls for zone 2, btw)

^ My outdoor speakers are wall mounted on their side and angled down. They are bass heavy and need a little treble added. Even standing in front of each speaker does not help.

Ah, then a little bass trimming would do you good. Not to go too off track but are they naturally bass heavy or is it the placement causing a bass re-enforcement?

I believe it is a trait of these speakers. In any case they are designed to be mounted so moving them away from the wall is not an option. Dave.
