I just received my order of 2 of the 2M XLR cables and 1 of the 2M Toslink cables. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the XLR cables to find a small zip-lock bag with a bunch of colored o rings in it. EMO includes o rings of all of the standard color codes for all of the 7.1 channels. This is not advertised anywhere that I know of. This is so cool because you do not have to buy all of the different colors of electrical tape to code your cables. You just simply change the o ring to the proper color. Very nice idea.

I just reserved my XPA-5, and your post just sold me on the X Series interconnects for it. All I need now is the ET-3 trigger module. Does anyone know when it will become available again?

Hi, One June 19 I sent an email to Emotiva asking this question. On June 21, I received a reply from Vincent Chen, Sales Manager. He said that they would be receiving "more in late July to August". They may have a more accurate forecast now. Cheers, Deral

I would always assume that cable measurements are tip to tip, that way you don't come up short.

I have Ultra series RCAs and they also have the color coded o-rings. I agree...most helpful.

Thanks for answering me I recently purchased three sets of the 0.5m RCA (unbalanced) X-series interconnects. They measure, from pin-tip to pin-tip 20-3/8" (x2.54=51.75cm). Not sure if the Balanced X-series 0.5m would be exactly the same as the unbalanced. Cheers, Deral

Unfortunately, this is my 1st complaint about anything Emotiva. Some time ago, I think it was in the July sale, I bought a pair of X series subwoofer RCA cables. I find that they don't fit as tightly as I would like. There is no way of adjusting them either like some other interconnects.
They do work though. But I'm afraid that 'loose fitting' interconnects allow for easy corrosion and hums.
Any suggestions anyone?

Jamrock, they can be tightened with a pair of pliars. I usually wrap a cloth around them to prevent scratching and then place the RCA plug in the center part of the pliars and give'em a little squeeze. Just have to be careful and not over do it as it's a pain to pull them back out. My X-series fit perfect but I did have to tighten my Ultras that I used first before replacing them with the X-series. The X-series RCA's an awesome cable for the money. I prefer it over the Blue Jeans and Audioquest that I've tried. The only RCA I've found that I like better is the $600 a pair Zu Varial cable that's now discontinued. Wish they had kept that model and dropped the price. I tried the new Mission series but it's not the same, it really doesn't work good with solid state and like most Zu's products are really designed to work with tube gear.

Could someone recommend the best X-series cables between the UMC-1 and AMP?
"X-Series RCA Cable" - DCR: .03316 ohm or the "X-Series Digital/Coaxial Cable" - Impedance: 75 ohm, capacitance: 61.64 pf/m
Main use for me is to be for the Music side of things. From a turntable, CD and also CD rips from HDMI PC.

I'd like to see thoughts on this as well... More than likely the popular belief will be that it doesn't matter.

I'd like to see thoughts on this as well... More than likely the popular belief will be that it doesn't matter. I have read several "white papers" on this topic over the years and they all agree that at audio frequencies and with typical cable lengths there is no audible differences, assuming all the cables are well made, shielded and properly terminated with solder or crimped using the proper sized die in the crimping tool. The studies showed that for frequencies under 100 KHz and cable lengths under 100 meters measurable differences were less than .05 dB. Human being can start to distinguish difference in sound with changes of 0.50 dB or greater and most people have trouble distinguishing a change in volume of 1.00 dB. The testing has shown that the shielding and proper termination have far more impact than any other difference in interconnect cables. The most recent paper I have read was the one on Audioholic's web site, linked below. www.audioholics.com/education/cables/the-truth-about-interconnects-and-cables/the-truth-about-interconnects-and-cables-page-5It is a summary paper of results taken from several studies on the importance of various measurable characteistic of cables as related to audio perception. It is an easy read and makes a dull topic understandable to non-technical readers. This should answer all your questions.

They should put is on the website they come with those rings.

It has been a while and I unpugged them all and went to plug them back in. Now I'm not sure which one is which. Anyway to tell?

Anyway to tell? The easiest wasy to tell is check the impedance. The digital cable should be around 75 Ohms and the regular RCA should be close to 0 Ohms.
