What 7.xx.xx.13/14 was supposed to fix was AFAIK mostly to do with some PLIIx and general issues, what it seems to do however is produce erratic volume with PLIIx enabled.
Some of us still see centre drop outs, failure to lock etc. etc.
So TBH, I would skip .13/14 and wait for the 7.2 which seems more promising.
Only Emotiva can tell us when it will be releases, as folks are getting it in shipped units, I think they should release it, even if it is only via PM for folks that ask (and understand the risks) if they want more testing.
With the return clock ticking and new mics not shipping yet this is extra frustrating.

It is possible that Emo is going to let the smaller group with 7.2 test it before full release, which was suggested by a number of folks here. So far I haven't heard any serious negatives with it so I am hoping to see it soon.

With the return clock about to run out on MANY customers.....I would think Emo would want to make any and all improvements in stability possible. Of course, it's also possible they are scared that yet another unseen glitch might make the bleeding worse. For me, it's the same as it's always been.......JUST COMMUNICATE......PLEASE

Unfortunately they did this to themselves and no matter what they do they can't win.

Absolutely......a small FORMAL beta group would be great......but just installing the new FW on returned units, and newly shipped stock isn't a 'smaller beta release'. They have put this version into production now and STILL only ONE post from anyone at Emo about the UMC in the last MONTH. I can imagine the frustration level is running pretty high in Franklin......but there's a fair amount of it on this side of the equation as well. If all this grief is due to new stiffer HDMI 'rules', then give me a black market hacked version FW that doesn't play by the rules and doesn't come from Franklin (China maybe?). I just want to sit down and have everything work every time....you know....like A/V used to.

I need a bottom-line here. Because I'm a Mac user I had planned on pulling my unit and sending it to EMO for a FW update. I still have the original 6.2.0.14 that came with the unit last May. And I am having issues with drops, volume inconsistencies, center channel drops, most recently noted during the Fox broadcast of my beloved Giants in the World Series. But I only want to send it back once. If 7.2 is imminent I will wait. Or maybe continue my search for a willing Windows laptop user to spend some time doing an update.javascript:add(%22%20;D%22)

7.2 has been out for a couple of weeks - but I would suggest that in your case, you wait for the next release, solving the centre channel loss is up next on the fix list (shutdown fix came out last Monday). I suspect the centre channel drop fix may also possibly affect/fix other things from the sound of where they think the issue is.

You think the next release will be by the end of November? I've asked them directly but haven't heard back yet. I'll be gone the month of November, so can let them have it for the month.

I suspect they don't know yet when it will be done as they are still working on a fix to the identified probable cause. If they are making progress they may be able to make a guess, it could be an easy fix or a really tough one, so hard to say at this point probably.

As has been pointed out, no one knows how long it will take to implement the last bug fix, but Lonnie has posted that he expects it will probably be a matter of a week or so. If I were in your shoes, I would contact Lonnie and explain your situation to him and see what his recommendation is to you. I would expect that if you are going to be gone the whole month of November it would be safe to assume you could have Emotiva issue a "call tag" for your unit right away so that it is in their hands when the bug fix is released; and they can then return your unit to arrive at your home the day after your return. Just let Lonnie know what your schedule is and he will take care of it for you.

BTW, I would not call this the "last" bug fix. There are cetainly still some "cosmetic anomalies" and some other random stuff that may or may not be fixed by the CC drop issue that could be classed as bugs (e.g. the -10 versus + 10 in EmoQ).

My UMC-1 arrived about a week ago, and the FW is 7.2.00.00
I presume this would be the latest, and there is no "dot" release yet? My Emo UPA-5 amp arrived last night, and I look forward to some good luck!
I bought these prior to reading the forums, and I am just a wee bit nervous. Though I would hope the number of problems vs. total units sold is small…. hopefully!

There is, .05 is out but in beta test, you need to mail Lonnie to get a copy, for me and some others it is a major step forward from 7.02.00.00. Sound quality is also improved. With luck an official release with a version after .05 will be out soon.

Thanks. I'll look around to see if I can find what the .05 beta addresses, and maybe get a copy. I always believe in staying current on firmware.
Not to be a bother, but you say the .05 is a major step.... how so?

Not to be a bother, but you say the .05 is a major step.... how so?No bother, -better front soundstage/imaging with digital and analog -surround channels are more "alive" -not a single center CH dropout with this FW. Was getting ALOT of them on previous FW (7.02.00.00). A couple of bugs are still present, being worked out by Emo. Also, welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the info. I think I will shoot support an email. Still getting familiar with the unit and trying to get the setup right (forums have some good info!)

Sciatti... Got the files. After struggling with the incorrect version EMO upgrade program(!), the firmware went in w/o a hitch.
So far its all good! I believe I even have a working setup on my Harmony 1100 for it. Looking forward to the new gear!
