Hey ecod123, The USP-1 would be for left/right and sub configuration only, although since it has the Home Theater bypass option you can "add it to the mix" with a current receiver set up so you can use it for better SQ when listening to stereo only. I'm currently running a 2.1 system with my other 2 amps being unused in the closet. I'm waiting to buy a UMC-1 or the XMC-1 plus some new speakers before getting back to 5.1. Sold my last home theater set up with the house, Kinda thinking that was a mistake now, but whats done is done. Can the USP-1 be used as a full ranger in a music system without an AVR and subwoofer and when I add a sub, I will employ the use of the high and low filter pass to pass low frequencies to the sub? Yes, you just need an amp to go with the USP-1. Then if you want to add a sub, you would connect your cables to the outputs that employ the high/low pass filters instead of to the full range outputs.

We'll, after waiting 9 months for the XSP-1, and with it's release around the corner, I'm going to bail. In the months I've been waiting for it, I've looked at tons of other options. I decided that I wanted to get a tube based preamp--but could not afford one.
I've just ordered an Aikido tube preamp board and will be building one my self. This should be fun. The parts will be here in a week or so. It will sound great with my XPA-2.
I must say that I'm sort of sad about going this path. The XSP-1 looks so cool! The little I've read about it makes me droll. I'm sure that you all will not be disappointed!! Also, I'm sure that I'll be a bit jealous when you all talk about how it sounds!!
Best Regards, Stan

I've given this some thought, and I've come to fully agree with you. I should get that preamp. Just one little favor to ask, since it costs $5,500, I'd like 55 people to send me $100 each. I'll pick up the tax. If the $5,500 doesn't come through, I'll stay with my $250 Aikido boards and parts--and then I'll put them together myself. Best Regards, Stan
