Greetings fellow Emo gang, I need a 120 volt power module that can be switched on and off by the 12 volt trigger of a preamp or from the Emotiva ET3. I need to control some older equipment turn on/off remotely and these pieces of equipment don't have their own remote or an auxulary 12 volt or RS232 input port. So I would like to cut the equipment on/off via some sort of 120 volt cube or tap that has a built in 12 volt trigger system for remote power on/off.
Does anyone else make such a thing besides the PS Audio Quintet (pricey)? If not, this looks like another useful accessory niche that Emotiva could fill.

I've used one of those smart power strips before, with the amp plugged into the "Master" outlet and the other gear plugged into the "Slave" outlets. That way, whenever the amp is turned on, the others also power up. Here's one example: link

But guys, I already have a good multi outlet Surge Suppressor by Panamax, I just need a 12 volt triggered power module for the control of the amp and source components.

But guys, .... I just need a 12 volt triggered power module for the control of the amp and source components. Sorry, I just offered a suggestion of a $25 work-around solution. However, there's always the Russound ACT1: link at about $60 each that seems to meet your need. Here's the manual too: linkEdit: the links above don't seem to work anymore, but here is at least one retailer that seems to still have these in stock: link

powerswitchtail.com/ has a 5v version that can switch up to a 10 amp resistive load. It would be nice if they sold a 12v version and maybe increased the load on the AC side. In theory, you could take a mono audio cable, split off one end, wire in a resistor to reduce the volts from 12v down to 5v to utilize the existing 5v model. This solution would cost $17.95 plus the cost of a resistor and a mono audio cable. I agree that it would be nice if Emotiva made something like this.

I have built my own triggered power switch into a few DIY amps using CRYDOM solid state relays that only require the line 120/240VAC to pass thru and a 3-32VDC to input as the trigger....seems to work well. they come in other voltage input options like 5/12/24VDC and have lower or higher 1-25amp or more current ratings.
If you are not familiar with mains voltage workings then be warned - I take no responsibility for your use of this info. Some DIY skills obviously needed.

Stevens, That Russound ACT-1 looks like the ticket!
Matt, The link to powerswitchtail.com timed out and failed.
Wizard, I am not an electrical/electronics Do It Yourselfer, but thanks anyway.

Do you guys know if either of these would be able to power on my TV and blu-ray player when my amp comes on? Or would they just put them in "Stand-by" mode(i.e. I would still have to press the power button them). TV: sony kds-60a2000 Bluray: Panny bd-55k

Whatever AVR you're using would need to support it. At which point switching to the Blu-ray player as the HDMI input on the AVR/Pre-pro would tell the player and TV to power up. I'd love if the UMC-1 supported programmable CEC support and features personally.
