I've been 3D ready since I saw my first 3D movie at the Admiral Theater in Bremerton, WA in the 1950's for 25 cents! I still have my glasses somewhere.

Thanks for the info guys. First Thanksgiving as a dad and hosting 15 people...I am still recovering. Today I finally received the Denon 3311. I did order the 3310 (value), but EE sold out, but sent me a 3311 instead. Patience prevailed over doubt and so did the wallet. Cost shipped was $525. Chuckienut - Good info. Receivers should never fool someone who frequents this site and AVS dailey Goal here was a pre solution. The center is a HTM2 and I run the DB1 Sub (yes I should update my sig). I had been considering the UMC-1 had the 3311 not arrived today. XPA-5 or UPA-5 is next on the list. Waiting to sell some stock first however. LOTR - 808 was next on the list. Problem in my area, many retailers no longer carry Onkyo and I wanted a listen. The reason buyers disliked working with Onkyo. Again, price played a big part in this. Next speaker purchase will be Maggies 1.7 (wife loves these), 802's, or perhaps the Mirage OMD-15 (Souless went through most of my list in her decision making). I spend more time with my new Nikon D7000 taking pics of the little one than stereo listening or HT. But tonight I will be hooking up the 3311. Now if ATT uverse could get their act together! Going on round 3 of my install.

Oh and LOTR, I missed your earlier post. Listening to digital got the wife and I back out listening to local jazz/music. Fine cigar, gin and tonic, I am good to go. Dancing, I'm good at watching others dance... But, that all came to a halt 9 weeks ago when the little one came into our lives.

Sooo... basically you're saying that listening to digital music got your wife pregnant? ;D ;D

A little. I am pretty sure some good beer was the real culprit.

The Denon AVR-3311CI for only $525 (shipped) was an excellent deal Urquell! ...Congrats! * The Mirage OMD-15s are on sale right now, only $399 a piece! ...Amazon & Vanns. ** Cool! Digital music & impregnation! ;D ...Very nice to go out for Live Music! The Real Thing! With Real people, and all that Smell! ...Floor moving, dancing, favorite drink(s), cute chicks, the air, the atmosphere, the Flamenco music, touching your partner (one hand with her hand, and the other one around her waist), the moves, the extensions, the stretching, the sweat, the skins, the direct look into the eyes of the musicians, the real surrounding of music & people, moving all around the dance floor and at 360 degree (not lock up in a vise grip!), ...there is simply no equal!

Why not get the UMC-1 and a real amp? I think without a working room EQ like Audyssey, the UMC-1 is out for a lot of folks.

Why not get the UMC-1 and a real amp? You fail to mention your speakers but I think you have two B&W 805's and two Emo in-walls plus other speakers? Note that although B&W specifies the 805 at 88dB's sensitivity (efficiency), a major audiophile magazine measured it at only 85.5dB's. That means it takes almost twice as much power as the spec indicates. You can buy the Emo UMC-1 for $699, no sales tax, free shipping and a $100 Emo bucks. Use the $100 Emo bucks on an Emo amp like the UPA-5 for a net price of $329. That's a net of $1028 for the UMC-1 and UPA-5 (or $1198 for the UMC-1 and UPA-7)(plus you get a certificate for 40% off your next generation Emo pre-pro). Don't be fooled by the 7 x 135 watts per channel rating of the Denon and Onkyo receivers. That is not with all channels operating (notice they don't dare mention what it puts out with all channels operating and especially into 4 ohms). The trend over the past few years is to put less powerful amps in the receivers. Check the dwindling weights for succeeding models like the Onkyo 805 (50.9 lbs), 806, 807 and 808 (40.3 lbs). The new Onkyo TX-NR1008 is 10.8 lbs lighter than the 1007. Where did the weight go folks? (yeah, I know, some of the newer models have the lower weight newer class amps, too bad) The Emo UMC-1 and UPA-7 weigh 82 lbs (two chassis) Home Theater and Sound and Vision magazine measured power per channel: Denon AVR-2311CI ($899) @ 66.3 watts with 7 channel operating into 8 ohms Onkyo TX-NR5008 ($2699) @ 78.7 watts with 7 channels operating into 8 ohms Onkyo TX-NR1008 ($1399) @ 45 watts with 7 channels operating into 8 ohms (protection limited output to 45 watts) These figures are for 8 ohms. Who knows what might have happened if they had tested them into 4 ohms will all channels operating or even 6 ohms. The UPA-5 and UPA-7 test out (Audio Precision) @ 128 watts into 8 ohms and @ 186 watts into 4 ohms with 5 & 7 channels operating, completely stable into 4 ohms with all channels operating. This is much more than simply 3dB's more volume at 8 ohms. These are real honest to goodness macho he-man amps!!! ;D ;D ;D The NR1008 and Denon models listed are nothing special honestly. But the NR5008 outputing roughly 80 watts per channel, 7 channels driven at 8ohms is no number to sneeze at, at all. In fact a number of Onkyo models like the previous 5007,906,876,905,875 and 805 have very robust power supplies and all put up pretty much identical numbers to the 5008. Whats not stated though, is that for people only driving 5 channels(Since 5.1 is still the standard and 99.99% of all BLu-rays are still encoded that way)the power numbers go up to between 100-115 watts per channel at 8ohms for all those models. Thats right on par with a UPA-5. And all those Onkyo recievers are 3-4ohm stable as well. The S/N ratio is also outstanding with them, and they have noticeably less crosstalk(I found that out first hand)with better channel seperation. So honestly if someone took a 5008,5007 or any of the Onkyo recievers listed above over a UMC-1/UPA combo, I sure wouldn't blame the guy. The money is gonna be comparable or even less with pricing favoring the recievers depending on where you buy and in many ways those Onkyo products deliver better value, features and performance.
