Just had my first lock up last night after getting my UMC-1 back with the new firmware installed. I'll have to check the power-down sequence tonight.

Mine too - done it a few times. Blue lights on, amps on, power button flashes when you change the volume but nothing on the display.
Power cycle needed to get it back to life.

Mine too. This power lock up accorded 3 times on me. I received the UMC-1 3 weeks ago. Front panel displayed, "power off". Then it stays frozen. Remote and front power button didn't respond, so I have to turn off the back main switch.

Visiter555, When mine "locks up" at shutdown the following situation is what I observe: UMC display is blank but buttons are lit. Amplifier is still powered on. Pressing the off button (remote) does nothing. Pressing the on button (remote) turns the UMC-1 back on, at which point I can power it back down completely. Pressing the front power button on the UMC-1 powers the UMC-1 up, at which point I can power it back down completely. Pressing the zone 2 power button on the remote sometimes powers the UMC-1 the rest of the way down, other times it powers the UMC-1 up, at which point I can power it the rest of the way down using either the off button OR the zone 2 power button on the remote. Do these observations match yours too? This is exactly what mine is doing ! Ditto. Locks of 50% of the time on shutdown. Very lame.

Very concerned by this issue, are we any closer to having this issue resolved? I am having serious thoughts of not ordering Emotiva until I see some sort of resolution to this lockup problem.

With a post count of only 3 you obviously haven't read Lonnie's updates on the "shutdown" issue. Emotiva had a fix to be released this past Friday, but had problems with it in their own theater and didn't want to release it, just to release it. This is obviously on their front burner for fixes and will have a fix shortly. I'm sure you'll be ordering Emotiva products in the near future as the "lockup" problem will be a part of the past. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

I don't have the lock up on shut down now. I avoid it by waiting a few seconds after stopping the source material and then switch off.
I only ever suffered the lock up if I switched off immediately after stopping the source.
Try it to see if it works for you.
Dave.

The problem is on the UMC-1 side. I don't have any amps triggered by the UMC-1 to be turned off or turned on. Basically when you use the remote to turn off the power, it says on the LCD display power off, but what happens is that the UMC-1 doesn't fully complete shutdown to the amber lit power button. It partially turns off and only the power button stays lit as blue. It doesn't happen all the time. Very infrequently, but when it does happen, it happens multiple times within a certain time span - for example, it might not fully shutdown a few times during a week. Then it would be fine for a while.

In case anybody missed it in the other thread, Lonnie announced that the front panel code for shutdown issues is up and ready for download.

Metal remote only, I think I will not install it as I think I only ever had one shutdown issue way back and am nervous about losing control.

Metal remote only, I think I will not install it as I think I only ever had one shutdown issue way back and am nervous about losing control. I updated and had to retire the plastic remote. The metal remote works as it should with this update. I had to adjust my Logitec remote using the learning function. This took about 15 or 20 minutes. All is good now. Dave.

Sorry Topend, No, I hadn't seen the updated info, I shall now Resume my Waiting with anticipation of ordering Emotiva toys! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) All I need is a house to put them in, and I'm working on that as we speak.

I had a strange thing happen last night. I was doing 30 second skips through commercials of a TV show I had recorded on a Motorola 3614 DVR. I'm used to losing some or all of the audio when doing this. Last night I lost video. After I changed inputs the video returned.

Sometimes the STB doesn't reply to a request for a handshake and this causes the entire chain to lose connection, switching inputs is likely to get the STB to respond. It is fairly normal if it is a pretty occasional issue.

EH, thought my lockup issues were solved, but no avail, the UMC-1 still locks up. With the new front panel code? Not sure actually. I did the 7.02 update, that didnt have the new code for the front? Another question: I have both the metal(got that recently) and plastic remote. I used a Harmony one that got the Emotiva UMC codes from Logitech's own webpage. I assume I keep using the original Logitech codes for the plastic remote? Or does Logitech also have the new codes for the metal remote now? And just curious, what does the metal remote offer for functionality over the plastic one if anything?

ntrain, there is another update beyond the 7.2 version. It is the front panel code update, and specifically works to correct the shut down lock up issue.

But the front panel code update is NOT in the Harmony database yet, and it disables the plastic remote.

IF and WHEN you do the front panel update to correct the shutdown lockups the PLASTIC remote and the HARMONY remote codes for the UMC-1 will no longer work. Emo has not released the codes for the milled aluminum remote so it is strictly "learn" the codes which will eventually screw up the Harmony DBMS for the UMC-1 as all the UMC-1 codes learned are automatically added to the learned section of the UMC-1 codes. If we could get the codes to Harmony they would setup two different sets of codes for the UMC-1. One for the plastic and one for the milled remote.
