Does the USP-1 have the ability to adjust tone levels for bass and treble? Thx.

No, there aren't any tone controls on the USP-1. You can either get a used RSP-1 or RSP-2, or wait for the XSP-1 for tone controls if you need them.

OK, let me ask this; if using HT by-pass, are the 2-ch stereo tone control/eq settings in the pro passed to the the USP-1? Forgive me if this is a dumb question.

Just to make sure I answer you correctly...when you are listening to the USP-1 through one of its inputs (CD, phono, etc) - there are no tone controls and nothing you have set in the pro affects the signal. This is because you are running inputs directly into the USP-1's input and they do not even go into your pro. It is clean and sweet sounding!
If you are running a signal into your USP-1 via your pro - then any settings you use on your pro that affect the fronts and sub at their outputs are passing through the USP-1. Think of the USP-1 as just a direct bypass from the front and sub outs of your pro to the amp for your fronts and to you sub.
All that said...a lot of folks ask for tone controls on the USP-1, but I have never found I needed them. The sound is fantastic as is. Try it out - see what you think.
