My Usp-1 volume just changed so I have to crank it all the way up to hear it with all sources. Checked connections and they are fine. Running monoblocks and its both channels so its not the amps Anyone have any ideas for a fix since I can't call Emotiva till Monday?

I am sure you checked, but are either the HT Bypass or Tape Mon engaged?

Thanks. I checked that and I also made sure the mute button was off. Just pulled it out and popped the cover. Finding 4 fuses that all look ok. Nothing appears burnt.

Just hooked tv up for sound and will drop off Usp-1 at Emotiva next week. Bad timing for this though. I cut and smashed some fingers on both hands and broke my left index finger at work this morning. :-(

I don't have a USP 1 so , I wouldn't have any advice there but, you already know Emo will take care of it.

Thanks. On the bright side I have an excuse to lay around and watch football. :-). I'm sure Emotiva will take care of me this week. They are really nice people that often go way beyond what most companies do to take care of their customers. Maybe Big Dan will let me swap for that old used XSP-1 they have laying around. Lol

Brian,
I know the USP is built like a tank, but you didn't have to prove it by breaking your finger and messing up your hands using it to demolish concrete bunkers. ;D ;D ;D That is what jackhammers were made for.
Seriously, sorry to hear about your hands and the problem with the USP's volume. After reading the other posts, it looks like you have checked the normal culprits. The unusual things I have come across over the years include headphone jack, defective wall outlet, and balanced/unbalanced switch on the power amp. You might also try checking the circuit breaker the system is on. Try engaging and disengaging the breaker a couple of times. If you have a multimeter you might want to check the voltage coming in and going out of the USP. While you have the meter out you might want to check the resistance of each cable connected to the USP.
Enjoy your football games and let us know what the problem turns out to be. The vast majority of these types of problems usually turnout to be a cable problem of one sort or another. Do you use headphones? Do you get normal volume listening through the phones? Try inserting and removing the phones several times and see if that restores normal volume to the speakers. If none of this works, take it Emotiva and let Chris poke around with his test instruments. Good luck.

Thanks RR. I'd say you're probably right about the headphone jack circuit. I think that's the most likely suspect. After that I'd suspect the volume pot itself. I have to take off work for a follow up visit with the Doc this week so I'll just drop it off and let Chris play with it. Maybe I can bet him if he can't fix it in 30 minutes he'll have to swap it out for that Xsp-1 laying around over there. :-).

USP-1 repaired and back in business. Mute circuit repaired. It was partially engaging somehow. Problem handled fast and professionally by Emotiva.

lol. Yep, that would be nice. All good now except the one broken index finger is still stiff and a little sore. Healing fast though.
