I wish I had a better memory. This question was asked and answered by Lonnie at one time, but I have not been able to find it during a quick search. I don't remember if the gain was measured in the HomeTheaterHiFi.com review, but it did do a thorough evaluation of the phono stage during its review. Click the following link to read the article. www.hometheaterhifi.com/preamplifiers/689-emotiva-usp-1-stereo-preamplifier.htmlAudioholics.com also recognized the USP-1 as the best stereo preamp of 2009 in their Consumer Excellence Awards for 2009. The prestigious Audioholics Consumer Excellence (CE) Awards program recognizes the most advanced and forward-thinking products in crucial CE categories submitted for consideration by the industry's leading manufacturers. Many Lounge Members who own the USP-1 have reported it delivers superb performance with both MM and MC cartiridge. Maybe one of these owners will remember what Lonnie posted the gain to be. If not you can always e-mail or call Emotiva to obtain your answer. I received one of the first USP-1 that Emotiva shipped and have found its phono stage to perform flawlessly. This little jewel has to be one of the best bargains in all of A/V -- any analog user should own one.

Now, if that's not a plug the USP-1 I don't know what it is. RoadRunner is correct though. I love the phono stage in the USP-1. It's extremely quiet imo. I have no kicks at all about the sound quality of it either. At 399.00 it is a seriously delicious bargain of a preamp. Beware though that if you have a weak link in your system you'll find out about it. The USP-1 is very revealing. That's what I love and hate about it. How's that for a plug? ;D Seriously though, I knew the gain at one time but forgot and I can't find the thread either. Sorry man. If I run across it before you get an answer I'll be sure to post it.

Does anyone know what the gain is for the MM stage on the USP-1? Have you contacted Emotiva to find out what the gain is? I'm sure that others would like to know as well.

I contacted Emotiva support and quickly received a reply from Vincent. The gain of the USP-1 phono stage is 40dB for MM and 60dB for MC.
