Hello, I appreciate the advice,I am following it through this process.I do have a copy of the latest email,
Dear dmraupp,
Hi,
I do appreciate your understanding on this matter. I want you to know that last night I deccided to connect the player using the RCA connectors and I did got a picture. but it still does not work with the HDMI cable and that's the only way you can watch the player on high def. otherwise it only works as 480p. so the problem lies on the HDMI connection. after I got a picture I tried setting the player to factory default settings to see if that would correct the problem but I still didn't get anything on the HDMI side. I thought you should know that in case you want to to send it out for repair. Like I told you before I will ship it out to you later today, since I have a doctors appointment this morning, And I won't have time to ship it till this afternoon. That's too bad that this didn't work out, since I was really hoping that it would have. I will write to you later this evening with the tracking number. Thank you.
- buyer
I now heard enough I am currently on hold with Ebay I think my wait time is 24 minutes.I am going to try the resolution center. I now believe the player is working fine. What do you guys think?

If the buyer says that it does not work, and he's sending it back to you for a refund; then I don't see the problem.
* Just make sure that the return is indeed your machine.

Some people need a good beating once in a while; you got yours, now his/her turn.

I sold a Nikon F5 camera on eBay a few years ago. I had it serviced before I sent it out. When the buyer received it he informed me the LCD display on the back of the camera did not work.
The buyer want an immediate refund. I thought that maybe something was disconnected during the service so I asked the buyer to take the camera to a repairer first to check it out. He refused and wanted the refund.
I thought it was fair to get the camera checked first at my expense so I insisted this should happen before I refunded the money.
I did not hear from the buyer again. He just left me negative feedback about selling a faulty camera.
If the fault was confirmed I would have kindly refunded his money.
Dave.

Maybe he was having buyers remorse and that was his best excuse. Im sure your camera worked just fine. I dont think he would have kept a broken camera especially since you would fix it at your expense. Nikon F5 is a great camera. I just upgraded to a D90 and love it.

Why can't people buy stuff from real people with real warranties? ...Beat the heck out of me! I luv technology, I luv the Internet, but I hate dealing with invisible people! Well, you know what I mean. Several places are fine (like right here for example), but eBay!!!

I still have an F100 in the cupboard that has only had <5 rolls of film through it. I got the D100 when it first came out then the D200. I have lost interest in photography now so don't use them much. Dave.

Sort of off topic but I once bought a set of Sirocco computer speakers from an E-Bay seller. It had 4 satellites, 1 8" sub, and a pretty heavy separate amplifier. The seller put them all in a big box padded only with about one section of crumpled newspaper. To the seller's credit it was the first section so it was the thickest section of the paper but to the seller's non-credit she wasn't from a real big town so the paper wasn't real big. Anyway when I got it the newspaper was all compressed and everything had been rolling around in the box. The woofer had come loose from the cabinet. I was horrified. I was able to put the woofer back and actually everything sounded fine; the cabinets were utilitarian and so it didn't matter what they looked like although the amp had a dent in it. When I contacted the seller she was completely bewildered. She said she had stuffed the box with newspaper so that it padded the empty space. I figured what the heck, the speakers were already ugly to begin with but they sounded really good so I just left it at that. I think she was genuinely mystified and didn't understand that newspaper does not hold its shape very well.

Alright, you all made your point! Like anything in life we have some better experiences and other less pleasurable, be it from real life or the cyber space. Anyway, don't sweat too much the bad ones as we all gong to be dead one day! Instead try to enjoy the good ones while you're still alive.

I guess I've been lucky, I've had over 1000 transactions as buyer and seller on Ebay and only had 1 douche try to scam me. That is until I found out the dvd player had the wrong serial number than the one I sent him lol. It was a nice try but in the end it was a Fail!

I wonder what the outcome was for the OP? Dave. I actually have an update for you.I did allow the buyer to return the player to me.I checked it out and actually experienced the same issue,no output over HDMI.I was truly shocked.I felt bad because the whole time I just thought the buyer was an idiot.I did refund the entire amount including the shipping.I then contacted Oppo to find out about non warranty repair costs.I did purchase the player used myself.I had numerous email chats with Oppo. They recommended alot of trouble shooting which I tried with no success.Oppo then inquired how far out of warranty my player was and where and whom did I purchase it.I replied with the seller info and where and when I purchased it.I must say I am impressed with Oppo.I received an email stating that they will repair the unit at no cost,I will just have to pay the shipping to them,Wow and Wow. dmraupp

I love Oppo..Glad it worked out for you and they buyer..
I recently experience a mishap on ebay, strange you say! I thought I was buying a new in the box Salamander sliding draw but when I received the draw it was hand made it the red marker to prove it! I told the guy who I bought it from it looked like a counterfeit piece from salamander , and he just said he never said it was New...I contact paypal, and the cash was returned to me..
I did have the heart to give the guy negative feedback, I think he was going through some hard times..But at the same time I think he should be a bit more honest with what he's selling..
