Sorry if this has been discussed already but I was wondering if I ran my PS3 through the XDA if it would greatly improve the SQ of the PS3?
I don't really have money for a new source player right now so I just want something that will help the SQ of my mp3's threw my PS3.
Thank you,

How are you playing these files now? What's doing the decode? The PS3 or are you sending the digital to an AVR?

Currently I'm sending the files to my Denon 3808 via HDMI and letting my AVR do the conversion.

Currently I'm sending the files to my Denon 3808 via HDMI and letting my AVR do the conversion. In that case it's probably a yes/no answer. I would expect the XDA-1 to improve a PCM source such as CD or DVD(PCM) via the PS3. MP3s are a different story. I found that MP3s sounded very harsh on my system and switched to lossless formats which sound great. IMO a XDA-1 to play decoded MP3 sources would be a waste.

If you can already play decoded MP3s with your AVR over a fiber, coax or HDMI what else do you need? My point is that the abilities of a AVR for MP3s is sufficient.

Then you are in a different position than the original poster to this thread who does! This might make it a solution for you.

There's gradation to MP3 ofcourse. I know more about Apple's AAC and even the iTunes Store is now completely in 256 kbps, which is twice as much as before. But I hear some folks even have music in 48 kbps... To put it in perspective: the Apple Lossless format goes roughly from 500 to 1,100 kbps (recent music is larger than old stuff). I rip all CD's to Apple Lossless. I only download music if it's at least FLAC or ALAC. I suggest you do the same if you value your music higly. I have some music that's even 10 times larger files than ALAC (it's 24/192 free download as a gift with the DAC2 purchase) I also took a year subscription to B&W SoS. For $59, you get all the albums they have (about 40) and another one each month. Most is 24/48 or 24/96. Stunning SQ! I convert all 24 bit music into AIFF. For Apple, only use ALAC (compressed) or AIFF (uncompressed) for best SQ and perfect metadata (album covers)
