I have 2 passive B&W subs, THX PCS8 rated at 200 watts and no longer in production. I'm looking for a new amp to drive them. Just would like to get some others input on this. Considering the XPA-2 or 2 UPA-1's.

If you already have an Emotiva power amp with an unused channel, go ahead and use it to power your passive sub, but it would be a waste of the Emotiva amps to only drive a sub woofer. There are far less expensive amps available that were designed to run at the relatively restricted frequency range.

The subs wont care what name is on the amp/amps as long as they are getting clean power and the amp can handle the load. Edogg points you to some good deals on some

be careful with the parts express/Dayton subwoofer amps they all have a 20hz cuttoff circuit, which cant be overriden without a moddification
i have 500watt Dayton plate amp just collecting dust, becuase of that reason.
But some folks/ sub designs like/need the 20hz cutoff.

You really only need one UPA-1, it has 2 sets of binding posts and will put 175W into each sub (which only handle 200W).
