Alright, I nearly bit on the crazy UPA-5 deal and I complained when they replaced it with the XPA-3 and not the XPA-5. But, being true to my word, I ordered the XPA-5 the minute it went on sale.
It will be picked up next week and I am very much looking forward to hooking this monster up to the rest of my system. Reviews-a-plenty on the way!!!

Keith,
What are you using for power at the moment?
I have an xpa-5 and love it...so I know you will.

It's a phenomenal amp for the money. You will be very happy. I plan on keeping mine a long time. I had a Rotel RMB-1075 and the XPA-5 is the better amp.

Keith, What are you using for power at the moment? I have an xpa-5 and love it...so I know you will. I'm currently using a Yamaha RX-V1800 which will take the role of processor only for now. I do plan on upgrading to the UMC-1 in the future. I'm pretty psyched about the amp...1 more week!

You will love the amp. I started with the UPA-7 hooked to a Denon 4802 then to the XPA-5, well from there I just got carried away. Emotiva can become addictive.

This amp is the cat's meow. I didn't realize just how good it was until recently.
First I went to the Rocky Mountain Audio Show a few weeks ago, and I kept walking from room to room thinking "I get more dynamics from my XPA-5 than that $10k amp". The only amp that sounded better to my ears was the XPA-1 in the Emotiva room, and a monster McIntosh amp hooked up to way better speakers than mine. Good company to be in.
But here is the real kicker. I had to send my babies (UMC-1 and XPA-5) in for repair today, and I replaced them with some older gear that I had sitting around: an Adcom GFA-6000 and a Harman Kardon Signature Series 2.0. I just couldn't believe how dead, lifeless and noisy that combination was. No dynamics to speak of, no resolution, nothing. I am going to evict them from the system and temporarily put a Denon AVR-4306ci in there to make it listenable.
I am thinking of moving up to the XPA-2 + XPA-3, but I'll need more rack space to do that (and the rack is pretty damn big as it is). The XPA-1's are great, but they are too powerful for my speakers (khorns), and I'm afraid I might damage them with all of that power. But my god it's tempting.
