Ok, got my XPA-2 on Monday and hooked it up yesterday and WOW what a sound. I started it off in Direct mode to see what it would do. I moved my speaker setting to "full". I put in The Flecktones "Left of Cool" and let fly. The sound was full and lively; the bass was punchy and low. My speakers never sounded like this even when I demo'd them 10 years ago! At first I thought my sub was still on. I looked in back to see if the sub had powered up and the light was still red (off). I turned it up to a pleaurable level (not enough to make my ears bleed or my apartment neighbors call the cops) and was barely moving the LED lights. This thing was AWESOME!
Now the real question is... how much better does the XPA-1 sound?

I seen the Holiday Sale on Monday morning I was originally going to order the XPA-2 but decided to order two XPA-1’s with a couple of X Series RCA cables. I received them yesterday and spent most of last night switching everything around to make room for them, they wound up stacked next to the main entertainment center on the floor, and I need another shelf system to put them on. Now when I was using the XPA-5 I was really impressed with the way my system sounded but the XPA-1’s are something else, like you said the bass form my LR speakers are unbelievable I actually took the Velodyne 10 in. Sub out of my system for more room and I did not notice it not being in the system. The detail with the XPA-5 is very good but the XPA-1’s are in another league. It was getting late so I did a quick test, I popped in the B-R Prince of Persia you could really hear and feel the difference with the XPA-1’s in the system, then I put the CD Dire Straits Brothers In Arms into the ERC-1 and like you said WOW and then WOW again the power and the dynamics are unbelievable. With the B-R only 2-4 lights were lighting on the XPA-1’s display but with the CD playing and the volume set the same as with the B-R there were super fast flashes going over half way across the display. I only played with them a little last night already love them; I can’t wait until they burn in, more to come.

I agree the xpa-1's are a huge step up even from the xpa-2. I also had the same thing happen when i hooked them up to my speakers. I also thought my sub was on but it was not. The bass coming from my towers was like having a sub. The xpa-1's are awesome!

XPA-2 is a great amp. Glad it worked out. It's amazing how much a difference an amp can make.
