Just curious if anyone has compared the Monoprice XLRs and the Emo XLRs? I need a set of 7 and on the fence between the 2.
Obviously you can't beat the price at Monoprice and my run is only ~6'.

I have some monoprice XLR's, and they work fine, but really I just ordered 7 pairs of emo XLR's because they look sweet and im pretty sure are better in quality.

Get the Emotiva XLR's without a doubt. I had Monoprice and they made my system sound terrible. They caused me to get listening fatugue very quickly. I know, cables aren't supposed to make a difference, but I definately noticed an improvement with the Emotiva cables in my system. For those that claim bias, I can't completely rule it out, but I was not expecting a difference at all. A friend had the Emotiva XLR's, so we decided to do the comparison just for fun. Boy was I surprised!
Just out of curiosity, is your gear fully balanced? Just because you have XLR connections doesn't mean the gear is balanced. If it isn't, you might as well save some money and just get single ended.

Well, I'm on the other side of the fence I guess ono this one. I have 10 monoprice ones and they all work great. I've tried a few others like bluejeans cable with the canare wire and didn't make a difference that I could tell. Monoprice gets my vote for being cheap and working great in my experience.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the XPA-1 was the only amp here balanced internally? I noticed a lot of people that replied were using XPA-5, XPA-2, etc. Will XLR help with these amps? If so I will buy the emo ones because I really like the looks, and they are still not that expensive.

The XPA-1 is the only Emo amp that is fully balanced from input to output. The rest of their amps have the balanced connections and while they are not a fully balanced design, the circuitry still can eliminate certain noise for long cable runs as opposed to single ended. For shorter runs, there would be literally no difference. I use balanced cables for even shorter runs because I like the XLR connector type and it makes me feel good..

In that price range I would go with the X series or Blue Jean cables or if u want to take things up a notch then go with Moon Audios Custom Dh lab bl-1 cables with Neutrik XLR connectors for $75 a pair new on Audiogon.

I have five Premium Monoprice 6' XLR cables I'll sell for $20 plus shipping. Give them a try and see if you like them. I bought them to use with an 8-channel hum eliminator that didn't work so the cables were not used. I just used some Monoprice RCA to XLR cables I already had instead. Shoot me a PM if you're interested. .
