Ooh yeah, carbon fiber. I could call my XPA-5 the "XPA-5 GT" lol. Or the UMC-1 the "UMC-1 Scuderia"

They are pretty close to mirror, I ended up at 2k grit with wet, could probably get better results. But hands were getting sore after spending 2 nights straight sanding. Should have used a D/A lol. I polished them with some old polish for mags I had in the garage. May work on them more this winter, depending how much I feel like staying inside, or how cold it gets outside. I tried that also, but used a polishing wheel. Bad side was it rounded over the edges so I would have had to make an insert for the center grove and holes, good side, it only took 10 minutes to get a mirror finish. I also tried buffing mine but to came out with rounded edges on the top and bottom edges. The counterbores (holes for the metric cap screws) got rounded too It's very touching and you must have a patient and steady hand, which i don't

KraemerKid - Would you be willing to make custom ampwear for something other than an Emotiva product? I'm working on a NAS box and would like it to emulate the Emotiva facade as much as possible

So thought i should post a update on the progress of my faceplates Tonight i sawed the material and programmed for 3 hours. The faceplates require 6 tools and will take 19 minutes and 35 seconds to make each one. If any one was wondering about the cap screws used on the trim pieces i have all the info you need. Here are the specs: M4x.7 thread size, 8mm thread length ( approx. .315) 3/16 (.1875) clearance hole and .300 counterbore .165 deep (all these dimension refer to the clearance in the trim piece it self) The faceplates as they are now The rough rendering of the faceplates I can't wait to get them done ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Those look like they'll be quite awesome looking, can't wait to see the finished product. When you do get some time(no rush), I'd be interested in trim pieces for my Emotiva gear.

The metal trim in the pictures you have at the beginning of this thread are what interests me.

Very nice work! Have you thought of making other designs? Like other then the original design that Emo has Thanks, yes and no. I actually first made these for myself because I have a few tube pieces and they all have wood on them. I like the way black electronics look with wood trim accents. So I just made them to stock Emo trim because I like their simple design. I could really make anything but it all comes down to time. I really don't have time to just mess around. But if somone has an idea and wants a specific design made I have no problem doing it. Maybe one of these days when I don't have a list of 200+ project to complete I can just experiment. I have had plans for a dual 10 horn sub sitting on the bench for the past 3 years now. I think I might get to it during Christmas break. We will see...
