Just got my XDA-1 today. It does not work with the digital coax out of my PC, nor with the USB port of my PC. It works with the digital coax out of my DVD player though.
1. I hooked XDA-1 to my PC (windows 7) through a USB cable. In control panel, under "device and printers", there is an icon "Emotiva XDA-1 USB Sound Device" under the "Unspecified" category. Right click the icon, and selected "sound settings". A "sound" dialog window showed up, and there is a "Speakers, USB PnP sound device" in the window. I selected the "Speakers, USB PnP sound device" as the "Default Device".
Then I played some music, there is no sound
I can see the volume indicator next to the "Speakers, USB PnP sound device" going up and down with the music, but there is no sound coming out of the speaker. XDA-1 is switched to USB input.
2. I then hooked XDA-1 to my DVD player through digital coaxial, and switched the source to CO 2 on XDA-1. Everything is fine: music coming out of the speakers. After I switch back to USB, still nothing.
3. I next hooked up XDA-1 to the digital coax out of my PC (windows 7 with sound blaster audigy sound card, which has digital output). In the sound setting of the computer, changed the default output device to "Digital Audio Interface" of SB Audigy. Still no sound
Switch back to the DVD player, everything is fine.
I connected the digital coax out of my PC to an onkyo 707, everything works fine. Switch it back to XDA-1, no sound.
Isn't all digital coax out the same? Has anybody tried the USB or digital coax connection to your computer? Did I do anything wrong?
