I can't address the USP part, but I can comment on my experiences with ERC-1 > XDA-1 > RSP-1>RPA-1 > modified Klipschorns. Earlier I was astounded when I added the ERC-1 to replace a professional CD player/recorder ($2200 new). It was a dramatic improvement in almost ever area: location of instruments in the soundstage, dynamic range, bass definition, etc. Adding the XDA-1 to the chain has made for another quite noticeable enhancement--not as great as when I added the ERC-1, but a very noticeable enhancement nonetheless. My sense is that there is not only an improvement in detail, especially in the treble, but another increase in dynamic range. I no longer have equipment to make the measurements, but I suspect most of the improvements come from a significant lowering of the noise floor and an overall reduction in distortion.
No it doesn't show on every recording, nor do I suspect it will be apparent on every system, but I would suggest that many, if not most, listeners will find adding a XDA-1 will provide a far from subtle improvement when playing back revealing source material on speakers that are themselves low in distortion and capable of wide dynamic range
