hook-up - Onkyo 876>USP-1>speakers crossed over at 80hz
While playing The Dark Knight at a volume I would never normally listen at(testing subwoofer) my amp shut down(center channel light blinking red and power light blinking). Reset everything, tried the same scene(hospital explosion) same thing happens at the same point. Put in other loud movies(Cloverfield, Expendables) played these even louder with no problems. Contacted Emotiva and they stated the amp may be trying to pull to much power from the outlet. Went back down to listen to some music using the stereo output from the USP-1 but with the Onkyo on but turned down so no sound from the center and surround channels. Once again playing music at a level i would never normally listen at and the amp does the same thing center channel blinking red. Next i turned everything off but the USP-1, amp, and cd player and played the same song at the same level and everything was fine no shut down.
What could be the problem and how can I correct it. This has never happend before

I had a similar thing happen iand it turned out to be a banana plug that was "sorta" not making complete contact. Made sure it was snug and the problem vanished...

I don't think anything is wrong since you tried other movies at even higher levels with no problem. That hospital scene may have some unique frequencies in the center channel for some reason, and/or your center speaker may be causing an unusual amp draw because of it. Or the 805 Onkyo may be pushing the center channel into the red with that one scene.
With my XPA-3, one channel started blinking and shut down but I had forgotten to turn it off as I unplugged the RCA cables in the back. These amps seem pretty well protected.

made sure all my connections were tight and tried the same hospital scene again with no problem, is it possible that something got loose over time?

For the heck of it, swap the center channel on the amp to a L or R front. See if the issue follows the speaker, or see if it goes away all together. If it follows the speaker, you then you at least have found the culprit and can determine a fix from there.
Keep us posted.
