UMC-1 and HDMI 1.4a Switching

Can anyone tell me when the UMC-1 will be available with HDMI 1.4 switching?

It won't be. The XMC-1 will. They announced months ago that it would be too expensive to upgrade the UMC-1. Personally I don't need 1.4, otherwise I would have bought something else. For the price the UMC-1 is a fantastic sounding bargain as long as you don't need 1.4. I don't see ever getting a 3D monitor, player, and controller since what I have works so well. I will put my money into speakers.

Hmm, I could have sworn one of the podcasts mentioned transitioning the UMC-1 to HDMI 1.4 in the future.

I just spoke with Eric at Emo and said they are still planning to do the upgrade in the March-April time frame.
I was expecting them to say no since I thought I saw something like what Theresa said but I guess it is still in the works.

Folks, please understand that HDMI 1.4 is a lot more than just 3D support. There are real hardware changes that would need to be done to support the full 1.4 suite. So, Theresa is correct in that the UMC will never be, fully, 1.4 compliant. That said, being able to pass through a 3D video signal can be done with a firmware upgrade that has been talked about for a while.

Terminator; they haven't charged for any upgrades they've handed out in their firmware fixes yet. I would be very surprised if they charged for upgrading to 1.4 video pass through.

I could be wrong but I remember them saying we would have to ship the UMC-1 back to them for HDMI 1.4 as a there will be a hardware change as well.
