I have ben unable to get my harmony remote to work with my USP-1. It won't even turn on even when I manually set it up (putting the two remotes together). Logitech has these remotes in their database but the defaults don't work either. I've had more success with the UMC-1.

My Harmony remote (720) works great with my USP-1. I've had my USP-1 since July 2010 and used the codes from the Harmony database that were available at that time.
I know that the codes for either the USP-1 or the UMC-1 changed due to interference with each other. I imagine that the codes for the UMC-1 changed instead of the USP-1, because the USP-1 is not updatable. Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in.

You are correct; with the "metal" remote the codes for the UMC changed so as not to interfere with the USP.
