XDA-1 How to?

We should make a sticky post about the XDA-1. Like how to connect, how to get the best sound out of it etc...

No opinion on this please. Just facts.

Let's start:

1 - What kind of cable do i need to connect my XDA to my CD/DVD player to an AVR?
-You need a coaxial cable or a toslink cable coming from the CD/DVD player. From the DAC to the AVR, you will need stereo cable or XLR cable plugged in the output of the DAC and going into the AVR.

2 - How do i connect my DAC to my AVR to have the best sound possible?
- Using the analog 5.1/7.1 input is the best way. Using CD input or other analog input in second place if you can't use 5.1/7.1. or want bass management.

3 - How do i get the best sound possible from the DAC.
- By connecting directly the output of the DAC to the amplifier.


Add your question-answer and i will update this. If it needs modifications tell me. Let's keep that the most informative possible.

You say "no opinions, just facts" then give us your opinion on what works/sounds best for you? There is no "fact" when it some to something as subjective as sound quality. ;D

It is also going to be dependent on the other gear the user owns as to what inputs/outputs can be used.

I knew it ;D Anyway, my goal is just to put some guidelines for people who begin with that. DAC become more and more populars and tons of people don't know about them. Just add your experience with DAC, programs used with laptops to stream etc...

So here is my disclaimer: This is just a guideline, experimentation is key! ;D

I agree with this!! I have had mine hooked every conceivable way I can think of, lol. Some better than others!
